Got home from P/T job with a small sinus migraine, so I am typing w/o my glasses (which I am supposed to wear for distance, lol). Cedric is still getting good, normal numbers, so no insulin. His ears, especially his right where I get blood from the best, is looking a little yucky. He's got a bit of a spot near his main vain. I am hoping it's just a bruise and not a clot - not that I would know what a clot looks like....

I think today is going to be the last day I test both morning and night (unless his numbers go up). I want to go down to testing once per day. Which do you think is best - tsting first thing in the morning or in the evening before dinner?

I did order him an auto feeder, and I plan on setting it to feed small meals thru the day; right now I am giving him 2 meals in the am (spaced apart the best I can, anywhere from 1 1/2 hours to 3 hours) and in the evening 2 meals spaced the same. Thoughts are apreciated and I will post this in the regular health forum too.

thanks!

If you are planning on doing an OTJ (off the juice) trial, we encourage testing twice a day until your cat is "officially" diet controlled. Here are the instructions:
  • Test at your normal AMPS and PMPS times. Feed multiple small meals throughout the day as much as possible (small meals are less likely to overwhelm a newly functioning pancreas).
  • If he is green at your normal test times, no need to test further until the next "PS" time, just feed small meals and go about your day. If he is blue, feed a small meal and test again after about 3 hours. If his number is lower 3-4 hours after a meal, then his pancreas is working!
  • Sometimes the trial doesn't work the first time and we have to give a little more support in the form of resuming insulin. It's not the end of the world if that happens, we just give him the support he needs. Our goal is a strong remission and it's better to take our time to get that than to rush into remission just to have it fail later on.
From the looks of Cedric's SS, you are already at Day 8. The reason we suggest testing twice a day is so if something goes amiss, you're able to catch it quickly. We also celebrate when our kitties go into remission. So please let us know how Cedric is doing.

One of my rare days off and I am fighting a migraine (still, left over from yesterday). I'm headed to the kitchen for an excedrin and cedric's testing supplies...
I just worry about that poor ear of his...I sure hope that red spot is only a bruise and not a blood clot.
