Let the packing begin. I do worry about the babies during the move especially the ones that were either dumped or owner surrenders because they aren't going to understand that they're going with us until it happens.

I'm talking to them about it now and trying to keep a happy excited tone to my voice so they'll understand that its a good thing. But I know that they will still stress and worry when their things start disappearing and mom and dad spend the weekends away getting the new place ready. I'm also sure the sugars' numbers are probably gonna go wonky for awhile.

I feel you... I brought Bing and Brio out of shelters to my one bedroom apartment when they were eight months old. Brio had been in a WV shelter, then foster care, then VA shelter for seven of those months. It was a bloody struggle to get him in his carrier on moving day. I am sure he thought he was being abandoned again. It broke my heart. He wanted nothing to do with me until he came out and saw all his stuff and family was there... I figured that the move had set him back by six months. I will never forget going up the stairs and seeing him run to rub my ankles - on that first night in the house.

I know you will have all the tricks and each will react differently. I moved mine into a closed room with all their pillows and smells but each one reacted differently. Bing just wanted to be out of the room and in front of the mover's feet. Emmy lived in the bedroom closet for a year. Brio was perfectly fine from that night on.

It will be interesting to see all 18 reactions. I hope it is a bigger house - they will appreciate that for sure.

It's enormous!!! My entire current house would fit in the livingroom of the new place lol. So many new places to explore!! Including their very own sunroom where we will be putting their cat trees, beds and litter boxes. There's an equally big basement but until we get it finished they won't be allowed in it. Too many places to lose a kitty.

The plan is since we have no deadline is to slowly move the stuff, so we can unpack as we go. Then move them last so they walk into their new digs with all the familiar things and smells in place.

Bert has never known another home as he was born in the house we're in now. Casper was also born here but he had another family for awhile so its only Bert that has never experienced moving before so he'll be interesting to watch.

They must be so excited for the new home and more space... that or it's the low carb celebratory tunaritas. ;-)
