5/29 Abby Dose Question

Hey all - happy Memorial Day weekend. I'm home visiting the family right now and will be back in Atlanta late tonight. Hope you're all enjoying your weekend.

Abby's missed her shots while I've been gone (a total of 4 by the time we're all said and done) but earlier this week I had decided to see how she'd do on a dose reduction trial. My question for the dose experts here is....should I go back to the .75u? She was on .5u for 6 cycles and while her BGs didn't go dramatically up, they did go up. I guess I don't know whether I had given her enough time, or whether I should expect them to be a little higher and then come back down, or whether if it was "working" she would have stayed exactly the same? I'm asking early so I have an idea on what to give her Monday morning, because I don't want to be clouded by whatever her i-missed-4-shots AMPS will be.

I'd appreciate your thoughts!

Kristin, I just wanted to say hi from a fellow Atlantan! I am not a dose expert but I'm sure you will get some great advice from others in a little bit. What I think I have understood is that you hold the dose for 6 cycles and then can increase by .25 if the numbers are getting higher or you can increase if nothing seems to be happening on that dose. When Simon was at .25, his numbers weren't bad but they were staying mainly in the blues whereas a few months ago, he was posting mainly green numbers. I increased his dose to .50 to see if that might jump start his numbers a little. I am on the 6th cycle and have finally seen some green numbers so I think I am going to hold this dose a little longer to see what happens. Like I said earlier, I am fairly new at this and no dosing expert but just wanted to give you my experience.

By the way, I missed two of Simon's shots a couple of weeks ago when I went out of town, and his numbers did not go up at all when I came back. So hoping Abby's numbers are also good when you return this evening.

I would go back to the 0.75u. The "dose reduction trial" wasn't based on an earned reduction. In addition, Abby's shed is pretty well depleted. FWIW, when I travel, I drop Gabby's dose since my kitty will not permit my catsitter to test. When I return, I usually bring her dose back up to it's previous level.

Hello Georgia & Simon! I didn't know you were from Atlanta (but I guess I could have simply looked...doh!) Here's one for ya....my flight into Hartsfield was actually really early AND they had a gate!!! I feel like I need to buy a lotto ticket.

Sienne - as always, thank u for your advice. I know she didn't technically earn the reduction the other day but it was close and I wanted to see how she'd do. Well, she done 'not great.' I'm at +50 now; I'd love to shoot since I just got home but I can't back up her next 3 shots enough to get her back on schedule if I do. So tomorrow we're back to .75u. Her shed's empty so we're basically starting over.

I haven't eaten dinner yet so I'll definitely visit condos tomorrow!
