i woke up at 4 this morning, came out to the sofa, turned on the tv & fell back asleep. every time i woke up, this is what i saw:

:shock:

giant sized eyes staring at me while i slept. little creeper. he was on the coffee table, between my head and the tv screen, so i couldn't miss him. i considered getting up and getting the camera, but didn't.

he's still high . . . i guess this is NDW - dose 4 of 8.5u. borrowing marjorie's patience pants for the day! other than the BG numbers, he's acting fine. lots of yowling while i got his food together - i did get lots of pleasure from tossing those pill pocket-covered AB's on the floor and having him swallow them.

I noticed he's got brown schmeary cooties in his ears - could he get ear mites out of the blue? he doesn't go outside anymore, no cats have been here, he doesn't act like his ears are bothering him. i think i'll clean his ears and see if it comes back.

is there any home remedy for ear mites?

Not too bad of a start his morning, nice sunny yellow. So Punkin: your mission today: Blues at least, and maybe even a green or two. You can do it!

Julie, I don't know about the ear mites either. I'm just dropping by to see how Punkin is doing today and see what antics he's been up too.. Why was he staring you down at that hour of the morning? That is too funny. :lol: Did he want you to get up and feed him, was he guarding you from the boogey man? He's not too far from the blue floor and perhaps even green today.

my friend who fosters lots of cats just told me that her vet suggested Masengill (sp?) douche to clean ears! She now uses it for all of her fosters and it works great and doesn't seem to upset them as much as the vet's ear cleaning solutions do. I haven't tried it but she swears by it. She said the vinegar in it brings the gunk to the surface but it is very gentle. Worth a try?

hahaha well that's funny. i could try it - hate to make yet another trip to the vet's, especially if it's not mites. thanks for the tip!

he's been a major nuisance today wanting to eat more. i even double-checked on the amounts he got, but it's the usual.

trying so hard to be patient with these flat numbers . . . 2 more doses will = 6 consecutive cycles. do you hear me punkin? that means tomorrow night we go up if you don't do some serious dropping between now and then!

just in case he's sneaking on and reading when i leave the laptop open. :-D

eta - he's having the most thorough bath i've seen him do since he got sick. he's been licking himself for at least 15 minutes. so funny how he seems to feel the best & most energetic when his BG is higher.

Champ is EXACTLY like that...feels the best when he's in the 200's. Looks like they're both doing an extremely flat yellow cycle today, too!! Hope Punkin reads your post and heads for better numbers!!! :-D

LOL on the creepy kitty this morning. Wake up....wake up!! Marje is right, trying to wake you up thru mental telepathy.

Leo does the exact same thing when he's high, he runs around acting silly and playing, i check him and usually he's in the 300 range, another thing i notice is he tends to twitch alot when he's in the pink zone as well....wonder why that is? When he's in blues, all he wants to do is sleep. Is it because they are so used to being in high numbers that its normal for them?

Time to come down now Punkin, enough fooling around!

i think it is because it's what they're used to - just like if you took away my caffeine i'd be dragging for a few days.

gave him his food and shot 30 minutes early because he was making me so crazy with the crying. he's not usually like this - well he is when it's time but he started HOURS early today. i'm going to give him a little extra food at +3 if he's still all crazy.

should i be concerned that he's been occasionally sneezing now for quite a while? no discharge, just one or two sneezes a day. not every day, but i've heard him twice at separate times today.

I don't know about the sneezing. could it be possible that he has allergies or is this something new?
I know Tommys right eye will run for a bit in the spring and then go away..I hope he hears your dosecrease threats :lol: Do you hear your mommy Punkin, she's given you plenty o' warning!
I hope his little nose pieces start to clear out what ever has him sneezing..

i have nothing on the sneezing other than the first time i saw a cat sneeze i though it was the flippin cutest thing ever!

d'art used to have horrible ear goop. the vets would swear up and down it was ear mites, but after the third time, i did not believe them (this was not our current vet).

we used these two products:

in a couple months ear goop was gone. we've only used it a couple times since, and it was so much cheaper than the creams we kept buying from the vet.

Zymox comes in a non-hydrocortisone variety -- hydrocortisone is a steroid and not the best idea for a cat with diabetes.

If Punkin is sneezing just once a day, I wouldn't be worried. If it increases, you might want to try L-lysine.

Gracie was sneezing quite a bit about a month ago.....it went away in just a couple days.

Here are my yellow patience pants for you. Sorry you have to look at my belly, too. :lol: :lol: :lol:

Rusty sneezes about once a day. I think it's a residual/chronic thing. He's done it right from the beginning since he came to live with us in November. It doesn't seem to bother him. Sometimes I mix 1/2 tablet of crushed L-lysine into his food. Stu sometimes used to sneeze 15 or 18 times in succession. I think it was allergies. (or an untidy house??)
