Xena’s eating has changed. She still follows me into the kitchen after her blood test because she knows it’s feeding time, but yesterday she did not finish her +3 meal or her +6 meal. She ate her a.m. pre-shot meal, but I didn’t give her a whole lot because I want her to eat around +2.5/plus3 at the onset.
I don’t feel like her numbers are going to drop because she’s not eating enough… AT THIS PARTICULAR POINT.
I’m just keeping a close watch for now.
It’s just a huge difference in her eating patterns, because normally she eats every single drop on her plate and still follows me around the kitchen looking for more.

Any other changes? Was she always a foodie? Peeing, purring, preening, pooping? Being social? Overall how much less is she eating each day? How’s her weight? Normal, lower, or overweight?

So I am ready to give her another .25 increase tomorrow because tonight is her sixth cycle but as far as today goes…
Her second and third feeding were the same thing she ate some but not all, and her numbers are actually higher today than they’ve been. So I don’t know what this means. I did a year and catch yesterday, and there were no ketones. I’ll probably try another one today if I can manage it.
Should I be concerned?

Sorry, I literally just posted and tagged you, but when I opened this thread, your reply didn’t show because it was already opened and I guess it didn’t reload, so the day before yesterday her stool was pretty hard, but it’s back to normal now. She’s cleaning her self like usual pretty much the same behavior. She was always a foodie, but she was the one to hold out that would never eat wet food. I know I know I should’ve been more tenacious, especially after having a diabetic cat, but the past like four years have been a huge challenge, and there’s been distraction. I feel responsible and guilty.
She would never even touch wet food before we force the transition on her, but once she started eating it, she would eat a lot of it pretty much how ever much we gave her. This behavior of her not finishing what’s on her plate was really surprising to me. I was expecting to see some numbers drop. Maybe that means a reason but??? as far as her weight, I’d have to weigh her and look at what she was the last time we went to the vet. I think she was 14 pounds.

You didn’t answer my questions.

sorry, the page didn’t reload, so didn’t see your reply. I just answered them.
One other thing is that for this last meal I just gave her at 6.75… I gave her fancy feast flaked trout. Figured I’d try some fancy feast I know it’s a little better than Friskies, a little more expensive, but I thought maybe I’d try feeding her that for a couple cycles.

Hoping you saw my responses. Sorry sometimes my phone isn’t exactly cooperative. I just weighed her she’s 14.2 pounds she was 14.1 at her last visit I believe at diagnosis she was 14.4 so it’s pretty stable I mean .1 pounds could be a full bladder, but I’m going to keep an ion. It just walked in and took a couple more bites of her food. I’m hoping her body is just using the food more now and she’s not as hungry, but I’d like to see the numbers change … ya know

The reason I asked was to make sure something isn’t causing her appetite decrease not fd related but fortunately it doesn’t appear to be the cause. Perhaps she’s turning into a grazer. Does she like the ff better? Maybe try other flavors. How long since she’s been eating dry food?

Allie eats a lot too and was never a beggar. I feel like when I'm cooking Allie is watching her Food TV. She lays in the doorway and watches. I use 2 bowls at a time to feed Allie, I add water to her food but not to much and keep switching them out until she is done. By doing this I can slow her down and she can't do the scarf and barf. I was also thinking are cats like people and it takes awhile for the stomach to tell the brain they are full?

If her weight is stable, I wouldn't worry so much about food intake, at this point. How many calories do you think she's eating per day?

Post Edit: I wasn’t really sure yet about the water, because I don’t measure her water daily. I just figure it by how long it takes her to drink the self filling bowl, and it does look like she’s been drinking less water. She WAS drinking approx 5.5 cups every three days so 1.5 to 1.75 Cups/24hrs. It looks like over the past 48 hrs, she drank about 1 cup of water each day.

Yeah, I understand… that’s basically why I’m asking what you guys think, and if there are any other things that I should be looking for because everything seems to still be the same except she’s not eating as much or as hungry, but the questions you’re asking, are the same reasonable questions that I have been going over in my head, so I’m a little puzzled… and her numbers today are actually even a little higher than the past couple days. She’s been off dry food since like at least a month before her diagnosis.
Today I bought enough fancy feast for like six cycles. I got a few different flavors, all low-carb of course.
I gave her flaked trout, which was a big hit with my other cat, and she ate a little bit of it, but not very much. She basically licked the “gravy“ or wet stuff off of it.
I kind of feel like she’s in a transition stage maybe where she doesn’t feel like she’s starving anymore so she’s just eating what she needs and going back to being more picky about her food, because I came into the living room with a pulled pork sandwich, and she smelled it and came and jumped up on the couch. Obviously I couldn’t give her any because it’s got barbecue sauce on it but I’m sure she would’ve ate it if I did, so it seems like she’s just being a food snob now.
Hopefully it’s a sign of improvement in the long run.

… Yeah, I kind of feel that way… But you know how it is you’re watching every move now. If I had to guess how many calories she’s eating per day, now that she’s being more picky, if you want to call it that, somewhere around 200 cal. She’s been eating her preshot meals and a little bit of each other meal, along with all of the sauce that comes with the pate meals. So that would be my guess. >200

I put a long reply at the bottom, answering your question and tiff’s but I know your time is short so my approximation is probably 200 cal give or take
