Recap: 5/26 Racci-AMPS-78,+3-85,+6-111,PMPS-132

Hi LL Friends,

It's another beautiful sunny day here, finally a couple of sunny days in a row! I got to sit outside and read and relax yesterday for a while before it turned cloudy for about an hour and hoping to do so today again maybe a little longer if time allows. Since Racci was so hungry this morning and ate so many times, she did not want to eat after her shot so I will be confined to the yard until I feed her againl Who knows, she might get another super low reading and bring herself down to 3u finally and get me off this quarter line. What a relief that would be. Racci is doing great today. Nice and cheerful and all the p's in place. She was a very cuddly girl today.

She did decide to make me a mess this morning though. Racci has this little glass bowl that she loves to drink from and is fascinated by the fact that it's clear. She always wants to stick her paw in it or tilt it. Well this time she hit it in the right spot and pulled it over on herself and the rug, was she surprised. So I had a drenched rug and coffee table & Racci. I hope she learned her lesson and realized I havent been telling her not to do that without a reason!

I hope all our lantus land babies are doing well today. Especially Moonie, Rocket and any of our other sweet little sickies.

Has anyone been having trouble with their ss? This was the first time I was able to update it in 3 days. It just won't load.

Re: 5/27 Racci AMPS-122 SS problems

Racci is giving you such a nice set of numbers. Paws crossed for that low reading you are looking for.

I too am finding the spreadsheets very slow the last little while. To make matters worse I enter the World SS and when it starts in US version I have to click a tab to go to world version. Sometimes it just seems to stall and says "loading" forever. If I log out completely and log back in a few times I can get it to work.

Re: 5/27 Racci AMPS-122 SS problems

I also had some problems with my ss, and I logged out and logged back in and it fixed itself. If you keep having problems ask in the Tech Forum, they will be happy to help you.

Hope you get your wish and get off the quarter dose. Those are a pain to measure.

Re: 5/27 Racci AMPS-122 SS problems

Hi Dyana & Wendy!

I'm glad I'm not the only one with problems with the spreadsheet. It's driving me crazy. I can get it to half load and then it takes forever. I've logged off and on tens of times and the same thing. Today's the first time in 2 1/2 days that I was able to update! ohmygod_smile It's a good thing I keep paper notes until I put them online.

Dyana, Which tech forum did you ask in, Google or ours?

Aren't those quarter doses a pain? It seems like I keep getting stuck on those for the longest times and the full or half doses only a short time. They take so long to get right.

Thanks for visiting! I'm going to test Racci for a +3 now and give her lunch, come back and check the board, then out in the sun for a while and maybe do some gardening if it's not too hot. TTYL

Re: 5/27 Racci AMPS-122 SS problems

Sorry, I meant the FDMB Tech Support forum http://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewforum.php?f=6

I just checked out your ss and I don't see any night time tests. I guess there's a reason for that and I just don't follow posts enough to know what it is.

Enjoy the day :-D . It's too hot here to do much of anything outdoors, except swim.

Re: 5/27 Racci AMPS-122 SS problems

Thanks Dyana.

Yes, there is a reason. I try to get +3 when I can but other than that, the night tests are impossible for me. I have a really bad chronic pain problem, RSD in legs and back as well as a bad spinal condition and once I take my nighttime meds I'm useless. Before I take them if I'm too tired, the pain is so bad that I can't even lift her so I just pack up some food for the night in the fridge and have it ready for her so I can take it out half blind and stumbling, throw it in the microwave, feed her and go back to bed. I have to just control her nights with food but no tests. I can tell when she is very low by the way she acts, so in that case I would test. I stay awake till her +3 & feed & if I can, test and set the alarm for +6 or 7 in case DH isn't awake and doesn't feed. I usually wake about 8:30 since I only sleep a few hours a night very lightly.

Re: 5/27 Racci AMPS-122, +3-84, SS problems

Things have been slow, I think it is a Goodle problem

Have you considered a timed feder at night so you don't need to get up for the late night snacks? The added benefit is that if you have to be gone, she will be used to eating from it.

Re: 5/27 Racci AMPS-122, +3-84, SS problems

Hi Ann,

I have but I've created a monster when I switched Racci to wet food. She's extremely picky. She wants her food warm and usually won't eat from anyone but me. She comes and wakes me. I would have to buy an expensive one that would also warm it and then if she didn't use it, I would be stuck so decided to just skip it since she will probably wake me anyway. Sometimes she won't even let DH feed her! She's a real momma's girl. I always take her with me wherever I go because of her meds and eating habits. The last time she had to stay in the hospital i had to go there for every meal to feed her also. She thinks she's an appendage of mine.

Re: 5/27 Racci AMPS-122, +3-84, SS problems

I've also been having SS problems but didn't think to log out and back in so think I'll try it.

Nice day for Racci!

Re: 5/27 Racci AMPS-122, +3-84, SS problems

On the spreadsheet...try using Google Chrome. I don't like it as a browser in general but it seems to be the best thing I've found for the spreadsheets.

Re: 5/27 Racci AMPS-122, +3-84, SS problems

Marje, the logging in and out sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, but it's definitely worth a try.

I didn't think of using Chrome to do the spreadsheets. Good idea! I have it here taking up space. I might as well. Thanks!

Re: 5/27 Racci AMPS-122, +3-84, SS problems

Re: 5/27 Racci AMPS-122, +3-84, SS problems

Hi Roni,

I don't really need help with it. I'm good with ss's. The only thing I might need is a workaround the problem google is having if there is a workaround that works. I don't mind doing it. I have a bad memory so it really helps me to remember what day things happened with Racci and why. I just hate the delays google is having with loading. Maybe I could help you with yours if you have the numbers somewhere. I hate anything to do with math but not regular ss's.

Thank you for visiting when Moonie is so sick! I hope her diarrhea stopped. You must be going crazy with it and having to clean up. I'll come over and visit and see how she's doing.

I want to try to get some late readings from Racci tonight if I can stay up.

Hugs to you and Moonie!

Melanie:

I started using calipers after I read some info that Vicki/Gandalf posted some time ago and also that Kim/Simon had started using them. When I got them, I found about as perfect a syringe as I could, dialed in my doses, and equated them with a specific reading on the calipers (in mm). I calibrate before every use. Anyway, I then drew up my equivalent measurement on the calipers for 1u on four different syringes. You would not believe the difference in where the unit markings were in relation to the insulin...it was quite obvious that the syringes are very inaccurate. So, yes, I use my calipers for every dose and I dont' even look at the markings on the syringes any more. I feel it is much more accurate considering that on my sample syringes the dose varied by .25u from syringe to syringe

Here are the calipers I bought: calipers

And I got them in April so all those awesome numbers Gracie had were dosing by caliper. Here's the condo with the photos and also showing the calipers and "roughly" how I measure. I actually put the calipers on the syringe but couldn't do it and hold the camera, too. Gracie's caliper condo
