It's too soon to tell if we are approaching a "failed" reduction or a "7 days of green nadirs" reduction. (We use an alphatrak, so today's blue is still really a green.)
What is the reasoning behind the "7 days of green nadirs" reduction? Is it supposed to kick start the pancreas to work harder?

I desperately want more reductions and remission, but I keep on reminding myself to be very grateful that her BG tests are currently staying in the normal range.

We started a new vial of strips this morning, which read the test solution 4 points higher than the last vial. I am clinging to that as an excuse for the higher nadir.

It's not a seven days of green nadirs, but rather seven days in all green that earns the reduction. Not sure what that is on the AT, but you are still seeing some higher blues at preshot, so not quite there. However, her nadirs are still really good. I would keep holding this dose. There isn't much room for an increase. Patience. ;)

The improvement on her SS in the last month is fantastic! :)

Is there a day in the week when you can run a curve? It would be interesting to see a full day's worth of tests (every two hours), since you are currently only testing around +5 or +6.

It's nearly impossible to guess what a number on the AT would be on a human meter, because the difference between the two gets larger as the BGs go higher. Since our guidelines are written for a human meter, I guess you will just have to play the "7 days in normal numbers" by ear.

Well, an AT2 170 (her AMPS) is the high end of normal on IDEXX lab reports. I agree that is pushing it though. I know she would go too high if I reduced her dose, which is why I was asking for the reasoning behind the 7-day rule. Now I understand---if she had 7 days of ALL *LOW* NORMAL (green) measurements, the rule starts making sense.
Her AMPS might be food influenced. I like leaving food out for her at night, in case she goes low. It's always gone before 5:45 AM. Does she eat it before 4 AM? I got up to check once, but...

Okay. Sigh. More patience. And gratitude for what we've achieved so far. Thanks for all the advice and support.

Sorry if you've been asked this before, but would a timed feeder work for you? A lot of us use a five meal feeder, leave the last slot empty and program it to turn to the last slot 2 hours before shot time.

If this trend continues, looks like she will have to go backwards and do an increase. Darn.

With leaving food out over night and not really knowing when she ate it, her AMBG's might not be as accurate as they can be if she had just eating within 2 hours of the test.

Now, I am about to show my age......... but, I have to get up every night to go to the bathroom at about 2 AM so, that is when I would grab a test and would give a snack. ( to the cat, not me LOL)

It's interesting, because her PMBGs are mostly higher than the AMBG's but she reaches lower nadirs during the daytime cycle.. Could be because she is more active during he daytime than the night. Just an observation.

She is reaching some nice nadirs with this dose so, I would hold until she drops below 68 again. (think it might be soon)

She is almost always more active in the daytime than the night. ***Does that as a rule make the BG numbers lower????***
Maybe her disappointingly higher daytime numbers today are due to her being less active with me out running errands!
I like that idea! I remember someone wrote about Boomer's numbers being lower due to his great escape. Maybe she will go lower this evening with me home bothering her.

Her recorded evening nadirs might be higher than the morning nadirs because I don't catch them. I doze the first part of the evening downstairs with her, waiting to get a PMPS+4 or more rarely a PMPS+5 test. Then I give up and go to bed. Still, when I do stay up looking for a green, I usually don't get one. Now you've given me a possible reason. I felt I was just lucky that she would flirt with hypos during the day instead of at night.

I might have trouble matching tomorrow's shot to recent shots. I just used up all the BD syringes with similarly printed scales. I made a laminated insulin ruler sheet today, but with parallax it's still hard to match syringe doses exactly between BD syringes with shifted scales. I should have picked up digital calipers instead.

. I should have picked up digital calipers instead.
I loved my calipers. Couldn't figure out the ruler......DH had to help me with math to set them up.
Does that as a rule make the BG numbers lower????***
Yes, activity helps to bring down the BG's just like with humans.

When you can, set the alarm and get a later PM reading than you normally help. All data is good data. :cat:
