Moonie is a little better today--I spoke to vet, she got an emergancy, Called me later--Basically, she will eat small amounts, but did eat breffis--I waited to speak to vet, but waited to give her the abs, and gave her pepcid with it!--Vet said to keep her on for 7 days at least & if she is nstill doing ok, continue this treatment--I have Cerenia from Copper, & she said I could use if I want--
If she needs ondestron? it will have to be called in to drug store, they dont have it ($$$) but they do have Mirtazpine in the office & If she needs, I can get it tomorrow--
Thoughts??
She ate about 1 can yesterday after 100 trys at feeding :roll: :roll: :roll:
Little better today, we'll see how she does when she wakes up--
***** BTW****DEAR AUNT had the surgery & had many adhesions removed!! Thank God she is OK & is up!
I hardlt slept, but am sooooooo happy -Hope now she will be well!!

THANKS TO LL FAMILY FOR THE PRAYERS--THEY SO SO SO WORK!!

I just cross posted in yesterday's condo. So glad to hear that your DA is through surgery and doing well. :-D A little at a time is a good way for Moonie to eat, so glad she likes her FF Chicken again.

No advice on the meds, I've only had to get them once for Tess, but hugs to you and scritches to Miss Moonie. I hope you can get some rest today. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Sending Moonie more healing vines. The only thing is to be sure and give her ondansetron to control any nausea before you give her an appetite stimulant. I hope she eats more soon.

Come on Moonie girl....feel better!!!

We give Zener ondansetron on a regular basis, fortunately, it is not expensive. That way, if we need to use an appy stimulant, he has anti-nausea med on board. The cerenia tablets are much cheaper than the injection, but if Moonie isn't absorbing things well, or is vomiting, the injection is more effective and works quickly. We now have cerenia tablets and are giving him a small dose every two days as maintenance. We have had much better luck with cyprohexadine (cypro) than with mirtazapine (mirtz). And with both appy stimulants, the prescribed amount from the vet is always much more than what is needed. We have paws crossed that Moonie gets through this bout of ABs and gets back on his fuds soon. :YMHUG:

Hi Roni, so glad to hear Moonie is better today and eating some, too. Sending more healing vines and prayer for your sweet Moonie. So glad your DA came thru the surgery okay and vines and prayers for her recovery. Everything happening at once there. Scritches for Moonie and hugs and love to you.

She is eating in dribs & drabs, a bite her, some chicken there, few temptations, whatever she wants...
She seems more alert today, maybe because I gave her the ab in 2 parts with food & with pepcid...
Hopeeful that she wil eat more tonite--Vet said she should be on the baytril at least 7 days.
That would be great--Paws & fingers crossed!
Auntie is up, came thru the surgery & its done :thumbup WHEW WHEW WHEW! ohmygod_smile

Like I've read here in LL before (and I think it was Sienne, or Karrie) when kitties are inappetant - whatever they will eat is okay!

I'm glad to hear Moonie is eating a little bit and your DA came through the surgery okay. I will keep praying for both to recover completely. Make sure you take care of yourself too. Get some rest.

Evening!! Moonie is so yellow it hurts my eyes, but cant be helped right now..
Seems the pepcid does help a bit...She is doing OK for now-I have been with her all day & that makes her happy..Feeding her ever hour or 2, making sure she eats...Cant wait till this ab is done!!
DA is in icu & is doing well..
Things are quiet, I am settled for now. Lubs you all!

I agree with Anne and Zener.

Cypro over Mirtz. And only a tiny sliver to start - 1/8th of a pill. And don't give an appetite stimulant without a true anti nausea medication - ondansetron or zofran. Metoclopromide/Reglan doesn't work on cats for nausea. Cerenia is good for vomiting but if there is no vomiting I would do ondansetron.

This used to be an extremely costly drug. Zofran's generic is ondansetron. Up here in Canada when I needed it for Maverick it was $9/pill and worth every penny. In the US you can order it online from thrivingpets for 80cents a pill (4mg pill is four 1mg doses). I have heard that Costco sells this affordably and you don't need to be a member. Call around - there is a huge range in pricing between pharmacies. Have your vet call it in when you find one thats close and affordable.

Sounds like things are starting to improve over there...glad your DA is doing well after surgery, and Moonie is kinda sorta starting to feel like herself. Quiet is good...have a peaceful evening!

Hi Roni - what an ordeal for you. I am glad that Moonie is eating, even if ti takes so many tries. it is difficult, I know. I am glad to read that she is feeling better.

Hi Roni,

I'm glad you have such good news about both your DA and Moonie. Lots of small meals are best for her with an upset tummy anyway so it's good that you can devote some time to her today.
It's much more likely she'll keep them down that way and not get nauseous.

I know what a drag it is to see those yellows, I hate them too, but the good thing is they are only temporary and you know they'll be gone again as soon as she feels better. Moonie will be right back to her blues and greens in no time. A whole day of her mom's attention is just what the dr. ordered. You take such good care of her. She'll be fine.

Eat your food, Moonie and don't worry Momma. That's a good girl.

Btw, I left you a long reply on my condo. Time to get ready for Racci's meds and food. BBL.

I'm so glad your aunt's surgery went well. What a relief. Also, happy to hear that Moonie is more alert today and eating a little bit. And who can resist a few Temptations!!? Good that you have some Cerenia that you can use for Moonie if she needs it. That works almost instantaneously for my Cleo.

She ate almost1/4-1/2 can tonite + 8 temptations and some chicken-
Trying to do without appy stim , hoping she'll get better...I have tomorrow am and Mon am to get meds from vet in 9am-10am..Will see how she does by then..Thanks for all your suggestions, such a caring bunch we are!!--Giving her more eat then Ni Ni--

Oh, so sorry, so late post, but I wanted to check in on Moonie. Sounds like the appy is back or at least it seems like it is coming back slowly, which I would think is a good thing. I know when people get sick we always start slow when we start to eat again. So I think Moonie sounds great, and the aps are working. So glad for that report. cat_pet_icon

Also, so happy to hear that your DA is doing well after surgery.

I hope you can get some rest now and things will calm a bit for you.

I'm always amazed when someone is going through such a hard time and they still have time to visit everyone else. So thank you Roni, so much for visiting our condo today. LL is such a wonderful place! :YMHUG:
