Simon is still acting very stiff in the mornings. I spoke to his vet about using Adequan. Surprisingly, he was not opposed to me doing the shots at home subq. I still might take Simon in for the first few shots just because I am very nervous about the whole thing. I was going to have him get the first shot on Saturday, but I am going to be away until late that night so I will not be able to monitor him. I'm going to wait until next week when I am at home during the night.

Meanwhile, Simon is so not wanting to take his pepcid in the canine pill pocket. Even though they contain the same ingredients as in the cat duck and pea pill pocket, there is a different smell to it. I wish Greenies would not have discontinued the kitty duck and pea. How bad will it be for Simon to have the regular cat pill pockets? I even tried putting parmesan on the dog pill pockets because he loves parmesan, but he refused to eat it. What a pain!!

Have a great day and yay for the 3 day weekend!

Hi guys .. I'm sorry that simon is still feeling stiff .. I know it's probably scary starting the fluids at home, but you mastered diabetes and you will master this too .. To bad they discontinued the pill pockets you need .. why can't people leave well enough alone?! Have a great holiday weekend!

The Adequan shots are really no different from insulin shots...you'll be fine with them! It's great that your vet was on board with you doing them at home.

I tried the canine PPs with my Mario...the chicken flavor...and the same thing: he wouldn't touch them. I'm so disappointed that the Duck PPs for cats have been discontinued. I do think people have used the other PPs for their diabetic kitties, and while it's not ideal...what can ya do? A kitty needs his meds in the most stress-free way possible. I would imagine that if you use the teeniest amount of PP possible, it can't have a huge effect...

I'm sorry Simon is hurting. That is hard. Amazingly, Zener has been ok with the dog version. I find it irritating that they are dropping the feline version, too. Enjoy the loooong weekend, Georgia! :-D

Georgia, I'm so sorry Simon is hurting. I hope one of the pill pockets work with the Pepcid. I hid Maggie's Pepcid in a small piece of FF wet and finger fed it to her. Well, I actually slid it toward the back of her mouth and then gave her some more FF. I don't know if Simon would find it though, worth a try maybe. Sending some healing vines for Simon.
