Just got home with Boris and is he glad to be back. OMG so am I, we had huge storm just as we got to the vet. We couldn't even get out of the van and I was skeered. Finally I just grabbed Boris and made a run for it, whew. Good thing is we had vet for a long time and all to our selves.
He had bw and that should be in tomorrow. Dr, couldn't hear his heart and asked if he could do x ray.
He said Boris has Cardiomegaly and will need meds but we will decide on that after the bw comes back. He said his heart is really really really really BIG. So I'm guessing this is a bad thing.
I'm doing ok right now but I suppose as I learn more that could change.
I'll be back tomorrow when I know more, I think I have to work here shortly.
OK woke me at 5am by relentlessly licking my toes so tending bar doesn't excite me right now.

((((Sandy)))) I think I would try to look at the heart diagnosis the same way you look at the diabetes now. Of course you'll give him whatever meds he needs, but other than that, if you sit back and look at him, he's the same Boris he was yesterday. He doesn't know or care what the picture of his heart looks like, he just cares about you and OK and food and syringe wrappers. Boris will be fine.

You might want to contact Jess/Earl. She specializes in cardiology and can direct you to information you may want to look at.

(We didn't get any of that weather in Chicago!)

Re: 5/25 Boris Amps 153 vet visit pmps 83

Did not expect to see this 83, but now I'm wondering if he went low at the vet today. It was after the blood draw and the x ray he was fine and then a little while later he started to pant real heavy and he didn't look good, we were all kind of like wth. Didn't occur to me at the time but thinking now he didn't get much breakfast then no lunch because of bw. Should be interesting to find out.I was going to take food with me but all I brought along were chicken treats. Vet techs found treats to be very interesting.
yes Lib, he is the same Boris tonight as he was this morning. When the vet told me all this I said to him "well, we handled his diabetes and we will handle this to". He looked kind of surprised by my reaction, but he is just used to me crying because of mew. He's not used to calm Sandy.
My vet is so cool he said he will come over to remove some warty growths from Boris after we get all this other stuff figured out. I kissed his cheek when I left and he kissed mine, really a nice man. so glad to have a vet that loves kitty's. :thumbup

Hang in there Sandy. I'm sorry you've had so much sadness and worry, but take things day by day and just enjoy your babies. I don't know anything about heart problems, but hopefully it's very treatable.

Sorry, about the HCM DX. Cecil's heart was very enlarged, too. He did well on heart medications, so I think it's worth trying. Cecil had Acro and unreguated diabetes, so I think Boris might have more time than Cecil had after his HCM DX. There is a feline heart support group you can join, they can give you some good advice and offer some support. It sound like you have very caring vet, which is good!

((Hugs))

Just want to offer support and HUGS for you for Boris and to let you know that Do Lou has had a enlarged heart since the age of 2 and has done very well on heart meds so hang in there :YMHUG: :YMHUG:
