Last Condo

Didn't make it to the PC yesterday in time to do a condo. You really didn't miss anything - same old stuff: so-so appy, tummy meds, CPC, lather-rinse-repeat. Starting out the same today. Tummy meds just kicked in and CPC has been achieved. :) Seems like he doesn't need the tummy meds as often at night as he does in the morning. Maybe gets a little carryover?

I was a little startled to get home last night and find Harvey at 60. He gets 8% for his t/f/s on Mondays, and I load the auto feeder up with it, too. It's the Max Cat, either venison or duck, which he really likes. Last night was venison. He'd eaten a little of his t/f/s, but mostly just licked all the sauce off. Same with the majority of his meals in the feeder. I'm really wondering if his mouth is bothering him, as he does that a lot lately, not really chewing any food but lapping it up, which doesn't work well with the sliced variety. I asked about a dental at his last vet appointment, but she really didn't want to do one on him - was worried, with all his other issues, that it would be too much for him. She didn't see anything in his mouth at that time that was of concern. That was in February. He'll have another Oncology check up in a few weeks, so I guess I should talk to them about it. The bonus there is that if they see anything they'll just have a dentist come down and take a look.

Harvey didn't make it to the lagoon today (yet - must add that since he sometimes drops late). But he's just skirting the waves as they lap on the beach. He's ready to dash in if any kitty gets carried away, so everyone surf safely!

Day 8 of the Whole30 challenge. Last night was the real test - bowling! Our teammates continue to show solidarity by skipping the pretzel bites. I'm sure management is wondering why the sales have dropped off! :joyful: I'm still hanging in. I really want to get on the scale, but the rule is not to until the end. I don't feel like I've lost any weight, though, so it's probably better I don't see for sure and get discouraged. o_O

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans, with a boatload going to Peg & Toby. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Glad the tummy meds help Harvey. Which ones do you give him although I should remember by now:p:p Hope is mouth is Ok and nice work getting to the lagoon!

Not sure what day you are on of the 30 challenge but how do your cloths fit...that's a better judge than that nasty scale. Sometimes during the process things shift a bit. ;)

Looking good in green! :D I hope his mouth isn't aggravating him too much. Good thing you have an appointment scheduled soon.

Congrats on a whole week of the Whole 30. It's a tough diet. I'm doing an auto-immune diet which is similar but has some additional restrictions :banghead: :arghh: and it's really tough sometimes. I'm doing it as an elimination diet for food allergies, not as a weight loss thing, so I have to stick to it and not cheat otherwise I have to start from the beginning again. One day at a time... Before you know it, the 30 days will be over! That's what I keep telling myself. :)

Late AM swims are better than none. :D Neko decided to follow Harvey. He does NOT need to follow her with mouth issues!

Have you ever tried spoon feeding Harvey? I know you've spoon fed other cats of yours, but don't remember if you've ever tried it with him.

I was really kind of surprised at how China eats...she's got 2 totally different ways of eating...One is to just "lap it up", but if there's a big pile on a spoon, she'll open her mouth and take a big bite. The things you learn by catering to a cat's whims!!

Looks like Harvey decided to join China out in the lagoon today!...Hope he plans on coming by again tonight....she loves her Harvey time!!

Yo Deputy Harvey,
Good to see you in the surf. You are doing a great job.
LagoonMeister Rusty

Rusty has to lap his food since he only has 5 teeth. When we feed his nighttime treat (Paw Lickin' Chicken) I have to chop it up so he can eat it.

A whole week on the diet! Congrats!

Have a good evening and try not to think about food!

Ella

Congrats on your willpower and commitment to the 30 day thingy! *clapping loudly*

Sure hope Harvey's mouth isn't too much of a problem. Always gotta be something. Darn.

Thanks for stopping by, everybody!

Harvey was a bit persnickety at t/f/s and didn't want the food DH gave him (left over from earlier), so when I got home from picking up his eyedrops (just 5 minutes later), I opened a new can of another flavor. He took a couple of licks and walked away. Too soon to give more tummy meds. An hour later, for no apparent reason, he walked over to the first plate and ate 75% of it! I gave him a refill and a little while later he's done away with most of that, too. He's had a bit of the second offering ( a flavor he inhaled yesterday), but still not really interested in that. This. Cat. :banghead:

ot sure what day you are on of the 30 challenge but how do your cloths fit
It's day 9!! I think they are a tiny bit looser, but it might be wishful thinking.

Karen, Harvey gets Ondansetron and Cypro pretty much once a day, and sometimes twice. If he's really not eating I throw in some Cerenia.

Have you ever tried spoon feeding Harvey?
When Harvey tries to eat from a spoon, he just licks the food right off on to the floor. I might as well just put it on the floor and cut out the middleman!

China, Harvey couldn't resist your invitation to join you in the lagoon! :D

I did weigh him this morning and he was down half an ounce from last week. He's been staying in a range of 2-4 ounces from the same weight for the past month (one week down, the next up), so I must be doing something right.

When we feed his nighttime treat (Paw Lickin' Chicken) I have to chop it up so he can eat it.
Last night I tried putting some Max Cat Venison in the blender on "chop" - it pretty much turned it into pate. o_O Harvey loves that flavor, but he was not impressed by the new form. It ended up down the drain. So much for my great ideas!:facepalm:

I'm doing it as an elimination diet for food allergies, not as a weight loss thing
I'm doing this not just to lose weight, but to try to figure out what give me digestive issues. I'm pretty sure cheese is a big culprit, but I'm interested to see if there are others. It's more motivating that a regular diet, I think, because there is a set length and then you start adding the different categories back in to your diet. The challenge, for a very picky eater like me, is finding a big enough variety of food to eat that I don't get totally burned out on something. Fortunately, I love chicken, so that's always a good choice. DH may start getting sick of it pretty soon, though! :p

I don't even have the will power to cut out what I can't tolerate, like dairy. I so love cheese!!! And ice cream!!

I love ice cream, too. Cheese I can do without. Not only does it not like me, but I'm not real fond of it. Problem is, it's everywhere!!! Everyone on the planet but me loves it.

One of Snicks nicknames (she has like 10 billion, lol) is cheese head because she loves cheese. She can hear if I open a package of string cheese when I'm upstairs and opening it under the covers and she is downstairs.

Glad to see Harvey surfing so nicely while I've been gone. Hope his mouth is okay and that all goes well with the oncologist at his next appointment! :bighug:
