Good Morning LL and Happy Wednesday!

It's vetty visit day! I'm pretty excited for this day to finally be here, it means we are one step closer to getting Leo treatment. I got a late phone call last night, rearranging our appointment today, the oncologist had a meeting that could run late and she did want to see Leo so we will go at 11:00 instead of earlier. Leo is all ready for his vetty visit today, I've been yapping about it all week, I'm sure at this point he's probably thinking "will you just shut up already!" :lol:

What is up with this pink this morning? He has been doing his usual thing on this dose, nice numbers for a few days then gradually increasing from blue to yellow to pinks, so he got a dosecrease this morning as well. He most definitely feels better in pink numbers, he's all purry and running around this morning. I did feed him a snack from his auto feeder at +7.5 so maybe it was a tad too late for him. He's gotten some hugs and is purring up a storm and is now on window duty, no outdoor time for him today because it's pouring rain.

Good vetty vines coming your way Tracy & Leo!!! :YMHUG: I know you are anxious to get on with it and Leo is anxious for you to shut up. :lol: :lol: :lol: Just kidding. He knows you are worried about him and loves you for it.

Good Morning Tracy. Funny you should say that about Leo feeling better in pink. I think Checks also feels better in pink and yellow.

Good luck, Tracy and Leo today at Vetty and many good vines sent your way. I know you've been looking forward to it and want to move ahead. Leo, you are one lucky kitty to have such a wonderful Bean, so purr away. Look forward to your update.

We are back from the vetty!

Let me tell y'all, i love that Dr. Mayer....she is absolutely fantastic!

So bad news first, their linear accelerator won't be up and running until late summer/early fall. The machine is already at the university, but not assembled and the room they were going to put it in is too small, so it needs a new room built for it, and it being a university means it will take months and months for it to happen. She suggested that i take Leo for treatment ASAP and that i shouldn't let it go too long, as much as she wanted to treat Leo she recommended we go to CSU. There is a place in Calgary that does SRT but she said it would cost me no less than $10,000 and is in a private practise, not a university.

Dr. Mayer did a full examination with blood pressure and listened to Leo's heart, she looked at his teeth and found something funky in the back of his mouth. She went and got the dentistry department head and she came in and looked at Leo's mouth, turns out it was just a larger than normal salivary gland. She wanted to do a full heart workup on Leo today, with an EKG, ultrasound, chest X-ray, etc. But since i didn't have an appointment booked at CSU we decided to wait until i had the appointment booked and we will go back a few weeks before we leave. Dr. Griffin from CSU had already been in touch with Dr. Mayer and had discussed Leo so she had the 411.

She was such a nice lady and absolutely loved Leo, he on the other hand was not so reciprocating towards her love, he took a couple of swipes at her and gave her a few hisses. At the end of the appointment he was all lovey and purry with her and gave her some of his nice meows.

So this appointment today with the full exam (she's the radiation oncology department head), dentistry department head coming to look at Leo's mouth, i was expecting no less than $300, she charged me $31 for the whole thing!!!!!! :shock: She told us to give her a call when i book Leo's CSU appointment and she would like to do all his pre-SRT workup, even tho Dr. Andrea can do it she said she would love it if i brought Leo back to her for it. While i was sorting out the bill she said she wanted to love Leo up a little more and took him away, i think she wanted to kidnap Leo.

So CSU for us! I guess i'll call sometime this week to book the appointment at the end of June/early July. I was kinda hoping we would go to CSU just because they have the experience and expertise with acrocats.

Tracy, that all sounds so positive and especially the connection with Dr. Mayer and her wanting to do the pre-SRT work-up. I think Leo really likes her after he gave her the once over just to make sure. :-D I'm so happy for you and Leo. Did DGPa go with you? Give Leo some scritches from us.

Great news from the vet! Sorry you will have to travel, but it will be totally worth it. Leo is such a lover. How could they not want to kidnap him? $31!!! Wow!!! I was holding my breath reading that thinking it was higher than you thought. Glad you are home and hope you have a great night!!

What a great appointment! Actually, I think it makes a good deal of sense to have Dr. Mayer do the work-up. She will be able to follow Leo after the SRT so, IMHO, having her do the work-up means she'll have a good baseline from which to observe him post-surgically.

You know we expect photos from your CSU trip.

No unfortunately DGpa didn't come with us, but as soon as i walked in the door i called and updated him. He wants me to take Leo to CSU ASAP!! So y'all can see where i get my lack of patience from...... :lol: :lol:

Of course i plan on documenting our whole trip to CSU!!!! I think i'd like to drive, i can't imagine Leo on a plane...... :shock: :shock: YIKES! Dr. Mayer said its a 2 day drive from Saskatoon.

Yes i think its a good idea for Dr. Mayer to do all of Leo's SRT workup, she has had lots of experience with acrocats.

Leo had a photo shoot today as well, to document the changes as he goes thru this whole process.

According to mapquest, it is about 1000 miles. Hey that's only 16 hours. :? That would definitely be a fun trip with Leo navigating.

Tracy I will keep sending healing vines for as long as Leo needs them. It looks like you have everything under control, and are so lucky to have such a wonderful vet, and yes, I agree, its a very good idea to have her do the work-up.

You are a wonderful bean to do this for Leo :YMHUG:

I'm gld it went well and that Dr. Mayer is a keeper. I too think it makes sense for her to do the work up, if she will be doing the follow up.

Tracy, I can't really add anything, except I along with many here, will be watching Leo's journey.
Dr Mayer sounds wonderful. Even Leo came to agree. :smile:

Delayed reaction from the vetty visit? Seriously, Leo...you heard MamaBean...WTH is up with that ( :lol: )? I'm sure he'll come back down shortly.
 
So glad there will be help for Leo and his SRT! You are such a wonderful bean, Leo is so lucky!!
I will surely be praying full time for Leo & his full recovery-We will support you through all this-It's what we do!-Hugs & Love from us!!
