Trix is feeling good these days, that's for sure! I don't know if she's pooped yet, but I have a feeling she has, because her appy is much better today - although she isn't super-duper thrilled with what I'm offering...just like the good old days! The reason I don't know if she pooped is because she usually doesn't bury anything, and I didn't seen any Trixie-style evidence in the boxes (we have 5 boxes) when I first got up this morning. However, Zen is VERY enthusiastic digger, and I could tell he was in several of the boxes. He may very well have unintentionally buried anything she left behind. DH is the resident scooper, and although he is pretty aware of what's what, he's not QUITE as aware of poop style as I am, so I don't know what all he saw when he scooped this morning. I still gave her a little miralax this morning, just in case. And, I'm wondering if I should just keep her on a small maintenance dose...I know both the CKD and the binder can cause constipation, so maybe we should just stay a step ahead of it. Between the water I add to her food, the fluids, and the water I syringe after her gelcap (which is now laced with miralax), she does get definitely of water to compensate for the poo powder (as we call it here  !). I'm off today, so one of my activities for the day will be tracking her LB activities! You all will be happy to know she just peed  .

The return of more behaviors! Last night, she snuggled up on the seat of the couch with Petey, stretched out on her side, front paws buried in his belly fur and kneading. This morning, she "played"...which, for her, means rubbing her face on a catnip toy. This morning, she also attempted to steal a kibble directly out of Petey's bowl. Yep, she's had a couple (probable) kibble raids because the beans had been sloppy and left the bowls unattended, but this time, it was all her. She was not successful, since this MamaBean was being diligent...but it was so awesome to see her do it, just because it is part of who she is.

She is eating pretty well this morning, and is asking for food - even following me to the fridge now. And, she's being finicky....oh, Trix. I still have to hold the plate for the most part, but inch by inch, we're making forward progress.

She was feeling feisty again at fluids time last night, but fortunately with both DH and I there, we got through the 100mls quickly. He had to sit in front of her to distract her, while I held the needle in and skritched her fuzzy little cheeks.

I really do think she is 100% over the physical aspect of this pancreatitis attack...it's just a matter of breaking through the psychological hurdles. She had such a rough start in life, and was so sick when we first got her as a foster (she had nearly starved to death), that I've always known she's super-duper sensitive about this sort of thing. I'm sure being sick with pancreatitis was a flashback to her early days, and she needs to re-learn that she is safe and secure. She is getting there, though!

And she's still keeping me guessing with those "PS" numbers. If she'd just keep those down, we could skip any follow-up tests! But, Mr P is doing his thing...thank goodness.

Time to go see if Trix wants some grub. Sending extra prayers out to Tricia and her sweet little civvie Sasha today....thinking of all my LL family - such an amazing group.

Have a great day, LL!

Amy

A beautiful Trixie report! I'm so happy that Trixie is making such strides. You've done a wonderful job with her, Amy. Pat yourself on the back....numerous times! o:-)

DH is the resident scooper, and although he is pretty aware of what's what, he's not QUITE as aware of poop style as I am,

Don't be too hard on him. Mamabeans just have that special knowledge. ;-) I'm actually jealous. My DH is a wuss and can't go near the lb without gagging (literally). ohmygod_smile  I'm the full-time scooper here.

Have a great day!

Nice start for Trixie again today. So great to hear she is pretty much over the ptitis. I think it is hard to get over psychologically for the bean and the kitty. I remember thinking things would never be the same again. Now look at her. :-D Sweet girl. Have a great day!!

Amy, I'm so happy to read that Trixie is doing so well again! I'm sorry I haven't been posting much but I've been trying to keep up on everything...every time I actually had time and went to sign in the page would load forever. So yay I am on a bit today:) What a wonderful WCR! And I'm glad that Trix peed, lol. Poop vines have been sent! I hope you have a great day at home with the fur-kids. Hugs to you!

Amy, I have missed so much in the last year but I'm glad to see Trixie has a little of her old numbers. I'm so sorry to hear she is having a pancreatitis flare-up. Simon had one last year and he started acting like he was getting the beginning of one a few weeks ago. I am trying to stay on top of things by giving him fluids and making sure he eats. As you know, that can always be a challenge. I also have to have DH help me with the fluids. Thank goodness we have a couple of good ones that do not mind helping with the fluids and also the LB's. Not my favorite job. Good luck on the poo patrol today. Have a wonderful day!

Hmmm...a little high again this evening. She did spit up bit at about 4:30 - about half an hour before dinner time. But, she did want SOME dinner...not a lot, as usual.

Soooooo...I think the higher numbers are related to her slightly upset tummy. I'm thinking she either needs cerenia back in the mix, or she needs to go back up to the 5mg BID of the Pepcid. I'm going to try cerenia tonight first rather than increasing the pepcid, to see if that helps her appy. I do know there is the possibility of cerenia interacting with her BP meds, which is why we did pull it from her regimen to begin with. But, at the same time, at least to date she has NOT had an adverse reaction to the mix like she did with the cypro. The last time she had cerenia was on 5/10...and she had three solid days of green after that...I wonder if that's coincidence or connection?? We'll see. I'll be keeping extra close tabs on her this evening to make sure there is no negative reaction.

Definitely no poop during the day today. Of course I don't know if she pooped during the night last night for reasons stated above. Ah, the life of a crazy cat lady....

Hi Amy,
It is a balancing act for sure and you are doing a great job! Trixie is getting better and better. :-D

Have a great evening,

Hugs, acritches,

Ella & Rusty

Amy, I know you're not ready to jump for joy yet, but Trixie condos make me smile daily. She is doing so well, and getting better each day. :-D
What a wonderful mamabean/nurse, you are.

Another wonderful Trixie report :-D I am loving these condos Amy, and I am so happy you are getting to see so many of her 'behaviors' are back! Trixie is one VERY lucky kitty to have such an amazing mamabean. :-D
Scritches to all your furbabies cat_pet_icon

I'm so happy to hear she's doing so much better!!!! You are so in tune with her that I am sure you will figure out what to do :-D

Amy, reading your condos lately makes me feel so much better. It's lovely to see someone having such success, especially after Trixie was so sick. I rejoice with you at every little improvement you report. I feel like I know Trixie and I so want her to be back to her normal, loving, mischievous self. It sounds like she's pretty darned close! :-D :-D

I, too, am jealous of the lb scooping DH. When we first got kitties, we were both working, and we made the deal that he'd do the lbs and I'd feed them and do just about everything else (I have a weak stomach). It worked okay for a while, but after we got more than 3 boxes, he started getting too casual about it, and they didn't get cleaned often enough. Even before I quit working, I had taken over box duty. We have seven now, and on those rare occasions when he has to do it (I'm gone or sick), he acts like there are 30 of them! Like you, I pay a lot more attention to what's in them than he does, so it's just as well that I'm the one doing it. I have been able to scoop without gagging for several years. It's an acquired skill!

Thanks for the prayers and support. I know you are aware how much they help. :YMHUG:
