Thanks Sienne for the info. Some of those brands are selling big in Hongkong; Solid Gold, Wellness...

Thank you for posting this information. About one month ago a cat in our rescue died suddenly of liver failure. She had been eating Chicken soup for the soul.

Thank you, so much, Sienne! I forget to check the FDA website, but your updates remind me and I truly appreciate that!

Thanks for the info, Sienne. That's horrible! These poor dogs and cats are suffering and dieing and people are losing their best friends and these companies are still playing games. Wellness never did do anything other than refund my money about the salmon that's bad. The expiration date is November of 2014 & it's still on the store shelves.

I was just lucky that she's so picky and refused to eat or I wouldn't have noticed. When she refused to eat her favorite I picked it back up and discovered it smelled bad and didn't really look right when I gave it a second look coupled with the smell. Racci still won't eat Wellness foods after that.

I'm sure they had other complaints because when I called them and explained the person I spoke with wasn't surprised at all, she acted like she was expecting it almost and just told me to throw them out and sent a refund for the two cases after providing proof of purchase by email. I'm pleased with the way they handled it on one hand but on the other hand, I would have liked to see a recall of that expiration date or at least that lot #.

This is all making me paranoid about the Wellness canned. I realize it comes from a different manufacturing facility, but during the big pet food recall, I went to a great deal of trouble not to patronize brands that were involved. I had been sick with worry and just found it inexcusable that so many companies were using these subpar ingredients. Now I feel like I am letting Wellpet "slide" by continuing to use their products.

Unfortunately, I just discovered that my cats do better from a GI standpoint on Wellness than Merrick, and there is a limited selection out there that is low-carb and nutritious. So it's hard to know what to do...

Yes, from what i can see it is all dry food. Because of the equipment companies contract out to have their formulas made there, so they do not have direct control of the process. i think it is a cross contamination problem or sanitary maintenance at the Diamond facility. At least Wellness did do a separate recall.
