Hi Everyone!

i feel bad being so happy today due to poor Wiggleworm,
but
Shakes had the best day in a month and a half

His front legs are starting to straighten a little and he can sit up a little better
He even tried to sit and beg like he used to.
His spirits are high today and its because of his numbers

It is so strange how just changing his food could make such a difference in his numbers
His lowest number now is a plus 6, and today it was 132!!

Thinking of raising him but not sure
It seems that it takes him a long time to settle into a dose and I hate to ruin
the good thing we have right now

any input is great!
Hope everyone is having a good day

What wonderful news, Denise. What change did you make in the food? If it's getting rid of all the dry, I would give it a few cycles before changing the dose. Sometimes the change is fast, but with some kitties, their numbers continue to improve. So glad Shakes is having a good day.

Very nice, that is probably how most of his days are.

I think you could raise, your nadirs aren't that low yet, but I would probably wait until morning so you can get a +4 or +6 to see how much more of a drop the increase gives you.

Are you still giving him the Methyl B-12? I would keep doing that too.

You deserve to be happy.

Thanks Sue and Robin,

I havent been giving him dry food since last year, although I did change his sisters dry food to EVO

I had been giving him FF beef every day for months, but I started giving him different flavors
and he started eating more and I guess somehow that makes the insulin work better.
Also if his amps or pmps are too high I will give him about 10 little pieces of dry food when I feed him
and that makes his numbers stay a little higher in the first 4 hours but then it will bring
down his amps or pmps alot, sometimes by 50 or more points
I have no idea why..... :?:
You will see on the spreadsheet when he has a yellow ps I had given him a little dry 12 hours prior....
but I am still giving him his 5 methlB pills a day so I guess it is starting to work now

hope everyone has a great night

So glad for you and Shakes that he is getting a nice breakthrough.
And so glad you can see improvement in his legs and walking. I hope Henry's walking will improve more too, although his is more from disc disease, I feel sorry for them when they can't jump on things like they could before..they act so embarrased.
Pat yourself on the back your'e doing a good job tweaking his food.

Great news! I think there has been some discussion on some cats responding better to slightly higher carb food, rather than absolutely the lowest carb you can find. I didn't follow it, but I would guess maybe it stimulates the pancreas more? Just a stab. You might try experimenting with slightly higher carb canned instead of the dry - maybe a few bites of something at like 8 or 10% would give him the same effect, but not drive the numbers up as much in the early part of the cycle? Just brainstorming...

I would probably try raising the dose another notch. It is great to see blues, and I think there is room to nudge the #s down a little further too.

I broke Maisey's meals down to 5-6 small servings and that seemed to help her alot. So you might want to try something like that if you haven't. I thought it would be less strain on her system. Glad to see improvement!
