yesterday's string of 200's

the little dodger was moving this morning as soon as i got the needle in, so like some comedy of errors, i was holding his scruff with my left hand, holding the needle still in him in my right, hanging on until the bucking bronco put his face back into his dish so i could squirt it in. he keeps things fun!

i shouldn't be on much today - we're hosting our son's grad party at 4 and i still haven't cleaned up where i made such a mess with the laundry room closet. that's on the must-do agenda for today, not to mention a bunch of food prep.

have a lovely saturday!

Re: 5/21 punkin amps 222

Hahah yeah i can totally relate to the bucking bronco, Leo has actually taken off running with the needle still sticking in him.

What a nice momma, hosting a party for your son. I get mental pictures of all the beans ages from their condos and i would have never guessed that you were old enough to have a graduating son. In my mind you are in your early 30's.

Have a great day hosting the party Julie, and Punkin can celebrate by coming down into some nice blues too!

Re: 5/21 punkin amps 222

Julie, I'm sorry i'm a bit late getting over here... Much sadness on the forum today and i can't stop the tears...

I hope you got my pm's that i sent.. I've really missed you guys so much..
Punkin has a very nice yellow this a.m.-- I think both he and Tommy need to get the blues today..
Tommy doesn't even own a tux... He must have stolen it from somebody

Good luck with all the food prep and your son's Grad party today. I wish i could come help you, sounds like you have much to do.. Did the insulin finally get in him..? I can see it so clearly him bucking like a horse and you lasooing him.. Too funny.. You need more hands huh?
Take care Julie.. It sure is nice to be back!
Hugs to you both :YMHUG:

Re: 5/21 punkin amps 222 +3/250

hahahaha, i AM in my early 30's . . . well, at least i was once! i worked with kids in grades 6-12 for 14 years, leaving a year ago. it kept me young. i'm actually, well, old. my kids are 24, 22 & 19. funny how they got that old while i stayed 29.

got all the food made in advance that can be - now it's a little rest since we had to stop and test punkin, a dr pepper break, and then i gotta stop putting off the cleaning and employ my mother's tried and true method "slide the clutter anywhere you can shove it in and shut the door!"

just for kicks, cuz i'm hanging out waiting for the timer to ring to take the cake out of its pan, i'll share the menu:

lil smokies in bbq sauce in the crockpot
smoked salmon spread on crackers
meat & cheese & bread tray
mexican tray - bean dip in a layer with all the toppings on top & chips
shrimp on cream cheese smothered in cocktail sauce on crackers
veggies & ranch dip
strawberries
olives, pickles, tamari almonds (haha, not together, of course)
rice krispy treats
devils food cake with holes poked in, hot fudge & hot caramel over the top, whipped cream, smushed heath bars

timer rang. toodles.

Re: 5/21 punkin amps 222 +3/250

Punkin's numbers aren't TOO bad and the menu sounds delish.. I'm going to make that cake, btw... my daughter will go crazy for that since it has all her favs in it!!!

Good luck with your party and congrats again to your DS :-D

Re: 5/21 punkin amps 222 +3/250 +7/290 dose help pls

i don't know what to think of punkin's numbers . . . is this a new dose wonkiness or ? should i increase to a full 7.5? i'm really just a shadow under that right now, probably more like 7.4 than a fat 7.25, which is what i have on the SS.

just not sure what to do with it.

Re: 5/21 punkin amps 222 +3/250 +7/290 dose help pls

I would probably stick with your current dose for one more cycle (for the full 6 cycles) then if nothing changes, increase tomorrow AM. I'd increase the full 0.25u.

Re: 5/21 punkin amps 222 +3/250 +7/290 dose help pls

Your menu sounds delicious and I'm sure everyone at the party will enjoy it a lot. The shrimp and cream cheese/cocktail sauce would be my favorite :-D Have a really nice time and bust your buttons because you have such a smart son! You're entitled.

Re: 5/21 punkin amps 222 +3/250 +7/290 dose help pls

hope you see some better numbers for punking tomorrow.

tonight....enjoy the festivities.....and your menu sounds wonderful....got hungry just reading it.

Re: 5/21 punkin amps 222 +3/250 +7/290 dose help pls

yum.... i think I may have to be a party crasher, Food sounds wonderful Enjoy the party and congrats to your son. YAY!

Good luck with the dose for Punkin. I hope the new one, when you start it, helps bring him down even more overall.

i think it's the pen. is that possible/likely?

his pmps was 313 - i have had trouble with every single shot on this pen. today is day 4 of it. i try to withdraw insulin and the syringe ends up full of air with just a tiny bit of insulin - like 90% air. i expel the air, withdraw more from the pen and have even more air to expel. could the air wreck the insulin?

i'm just thinking that this is as though he's not getting enough insulin - and his numbers have been consistently increasing since the advent of the new pen.

ps, the party was fun - our son was happy and several friends stopped by. the teenagers were like locusts through the food, of course.

It's possible that it's a bad pen or it could be a bad batch of syringes.

Punkin's numbers don't look all that different than when he was on the 7.25u dose. Unless there's some change tonight, I'd increase tomorrow.

FWIW, I probably would have suggested increasing from 7.25u to 7.50u rather than fattening the dose. Remember that when you fatten a dose for a kitty that's getting 2.0u is a bigger % increase than for a kitty who's getting more than 7.0u.

it's the same box of needles i was using on the last pen, but i have some other needles here and will switch in the morning.

have you ever noticed things always seem to happen on the weekend when you can't get immediate action!?  i always thought that when my parents needed help too. the pharmacy will be closed tomorrow, but i think i'll get in first thing on monday.

i wondered that about the increase. i have a mental blockish-thing that seems to arise about 7.5u so i was skinnying it just under that. i just hate to go there. *sigh*

so if i'm just under 7.5 now, probably 7.4ish, should i go up to 7.75 tomorrow?

Julie: I hope Punkin will come down for you and you can figure out if it's the pen. Sounds like you just have one pen at a time? I usually try to have a couple in case I get one acting wonky....and I did have one doing what you stated this one is. I never gave the insulin to Gracie...I just used a different pen and took the first one back. Don't know on the dose....sounds like Sienne was saying you are better off to increase by .25 instead of fatten but I don't know for sure.

Congrats to your son....just judging on the menu, the party was probably fantastic!! Hope you had a great day.

BTW....I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate all you do for everyone in LL. You are always there, supportive, have great suggestions (thanks for the FE Bart tip).....I am so thankful for you!!!

eta: I thank you for your lovely words on our condo.....hugs hugs hugs hugs :-D :-D

Not for nuthin' but next birthday, I'll be celebrating the 28th anniversary of my 29th birthday. That's a good way to look at it  Good luck with the pen. No one needs another variable!

But that 7.75 might just be the dose Punkin needs. My daughter is going to be 34. I laugh and say that I had her when I was 10  Truthfully, I wouldn't want to be in my 20s again. Maybe my early 40s, that might be a good place to freeze

i have loved every age i've been - there's always plusses and minuses, but they haven't been age-related. not yet at least.

except middle school and high school - i wouldn't repeat any of that for anything. i suppose that's why i had so much compassion for teenagers.

You're right , Julie. I think that I just appreciate the life lessons learned and wouldn't want to go back to when I was learning them. Probably because I've always attended the school of experience and that isn't always the best way. But all those lesson brought me to here, and I'm glad of it. It sounds as if you fed some hungry people today.

i just got a chance to catch up on your condo-

you went all out on the grad party! my high school grad party consisted of a bottle of champagne between my mother and i and picking out summer college courses.

of course my college grad party consisted of the two of us ordering take out and job searching during the recession and calculating how long my her health insurance would cover me ;)

i like yours better.

two thoughts on the pen:
1 when i first started lurking the boards there was some chatter about some bad pens due to bubbles when the pens were fresh.
2 i noticed we had a serious spike in the frenchman's bg when we had house guests over for nearly a month. it was a rotating door, and even though they weren't here all the time (every weekend a new guest) i think he could feel the stress in the house of us constantly prepping for guests. we were hosting dinner parties every weekend. literally within 48 hours the last departure, his numbers dropped. i know you've been planning this for a while and things have been in motion around the house, so perhaps could Punkin have picked up on some of that stress? we have a really life of the party, people oriented kitter, but even by the end of that month, he was hiding in the bf's clothing basket to get alone time.

i hope with the new dose tomorrow and a little decompress time, numbers will improve.
