A preshot I can get on board with. I expected higher after last night's +5. So needless to say, I was happy with it. I just hope it isn't the beginning of a bounce.

Question: when people reach their breakthrough dose, typically...do they usually have to surpass it and then reduce back down? Or does it just click? Not that I think we'll ever find that dose for Cobb, but I'm curious.

Happy hump day!!

Nice sunny start for Cobb! No bouncing. I'm sure others will chime in about the dose. We have usually hit the breakthrough dose and then backed down a couple of doses again. Of course, we have been doing this for 3+ years so it has varied each time. Have a great Wednesday!!

Hi guys .. fingers crossed this isn't the beginning of a bounce! With mocha we had to go up and down a few times too .. Then one day it was bam! Green green green .. Have a great day guys!

i think some of it depends on how long the cat has been diabetic. Newly diagnosed kitties seem to get to the break-through dose, and it clicks and they go down the dosing scale.

seems like longer-term kitties can find a good dose that helps their numbers flatten out, but then when they reduce sometimes they "lose" the good numbers and have to go back up. Just seems like a perfect example of ECID!

Nice start to the day for Cobb!

Well, I would have hoped for a better PMPS. Oh well, up we go again. We're about to hit the syringe max...and that is probably going to be our max as well. I just can't keep going up in the Lantus. Right now Cobb is getting 56 units a day. That's absurd. It's not ideal, but I'm just going to have to try to manage his numbers as best as I can with the R throughout the day. To say I'm feeling defeated is an understatement. I'd have hoped to beat this...in the sense that we could find a dose and stick to it. 24uL seemed to be that dose for awhile and then we lost it. Antibodies...growth hormone...whatever. We've been doing this for over a year with no light at the end of the tunnel. He seems to be feeling well, is sociable, and not eating or peeing us out of house and home. I'm just going to have to try to keep him as close to 250 as I can.

you're doing a good job with keeping his numbers down as much as possible, suzanne. i'm glad you've got the R as a tool and you know how to use it. :YMHUG:

Sue, anyone would be frustrated with the large amount of insulin and all your effort. For what its worth, I think you are doing a really good job to help Cobb in anyway you can. Not only do you provide Lantus; you use the R as well. You recently took him for dental surgery. I will pray for a break through for you and Cobb. He is feeling much better by your efforts as well.
