When Kitty got Dx I took up the Dry the other cats ate. Kitty has never been a dry food eater. I replaced the store brand dry with dry MD, just in case Kitty got into it. I put it up on a high spot (she's arthritic) and I have NEVER seen her near it or the old dry.
Well, this early morning as I am getting ready to depart, I go around the corner and there is sweet Kitty head first in the dry MD. I know this is not the worse dry, but surely if she's been sneaking it, it probably is enough to cause some inconsistent readings. Not to mention, the timing of the snacks in regards to test time.
There was one period during wonky numbers that I took the MD up-- just in case-- but, I saw no difference. I didn't note when that was, so it might have been post DKA, when things are not normal.
While I am in shock, I am actually hoping this has been a culprit in our inconsistent readings. I am not going to change anything regarding the food until I get back. I would hate to take the MD up if she has been snacking on it and I have her dose based on whatever she is eating. But, when I get back--- the dry MD is coming up and all wet for everyone-- no grazing!
She had good readings at the beach last weekend (no other cats-- no MD)-- then we get home and up she went. Maybe this explains some of it--- maybe it doesn't
I am certain this is too simple of an answer-- as you would think 4 units could hold down a little snacking on 13 percent carbs-- but......
Total shock in Kittyville....!!!!!
