Hello!

AMPS is 79.

Definitely feeling a bit more rested today, if only by accident. Completely missed the +4 alarm this morning and slept till nearly +10. Luckily, Cain had started a mini bounce of sorts so he was running a little higher than the night before where he had his dose reduction.

I need to figure out why both cats are going just outside the litter box. We have the two litter boxes in a corner near the washer & dryer. (Small house, one floor.) But sometimes they poop in the litter box and they'll leave a little more just outside of it. I clean up as best as I can with soap. I've scrubbed the whole area with soap and water recently. As far as I can tell, they don't go pee anywhere but the litter box. I've stepped in poop recently in the kitchen floor from Brownie. (The sock always finds things first.) I wonder if I need to replace both boxes or something.

Perhaps the washer and or dryer are running when the kitties need to use the box and that is scaring them away a bit?

No, Cain went right outside the box again this morning, but none of the appliances were running. It's a mystery. :)

Do you have the high sided box with the lid?

I had a cat years ago who hung her butt over and when I got her a new box with the lid on it... that stopped. And at least it washes too....
if they continue to smear the sides.....at least it would be on the inside. :lol:

I have one big little box that used to have a lid and another smaller one that's a tupperware box. We took the lid off when Cain was 20lb cause we figured he wasn't fitting as well so didn't want to go in the litter box. I don't think it's missing as much as they poop some in the litter box then get out and go more outside of it.

Maybe I have weird cats. Though the concrete outside of it probably smells a bit no matter how much I clean. I don't really want to get my nose that close to it tho. :) It didn't smell that much though when I spent a while scrubbing the floor a while ago.

apparently they make an xtra large one now....
I'd be trying that one.... and maybe a less gritty litter....
altho' I'm sure Cain isn't producing large pee puddles anymore ( now that he has good numbers) but I know when my cat was making her litter
wetter.... it was sticking to her fur on her feet and she hated that litter.
She really likes the new litter we have now ... it doesn't stick to her at all. ( of course she doesn't have big puddles either)
Your cats may have developed a negative association with the litter you have if they were having any similar issues when Cain's numbers were high.

That's a good idea, Rhiannon. I'm wanting to change out the litter boxes anyway. Another litter might work as well.

If you get a large box like that, I'd take the cover off. Cats need to stand up straight to poop and the lids really prohibit them.

Try Cat Attract litter. It's expensive but everyone I know that had a similar problem and used it was amazed.

PMPS is 70.

Both litter boxes are uncovered. I'll check into that litter, though keeping food and supplies on hand is eating my money up. :) Good thing I picked the Prime with the cheaper strips. Thank you for the recommendation, Marje. :-D

Here's hoping for a safe surf. :D I totally need all the sleeps I can get.

Ok I'm having trouble staying awake so I'm going to sleep. I'll get a +4 (and I'll have the phone next to me so hopefully I'll hear it).

I'm amazed I heard my alarms really. I feel so exhausted. Back to bed. I think I'm good for a while since he managed to have the same number. I'm going to sleep for a while.
