Ripley's currently taking Clavamox liquid AB for a UTI. As some of you may know, my vet and I have been going back and forth about whether the medication is sweetened. I say it is (it's sticky, tastes like bubble gum,and it raised her BG last time she was taking it) and my vet says it isn't sweetened.

Soooo, today I called the manufacturer, Zoetis (Pfizer's animal meds dept. is now called Zoetis ~ Ripley's current Clavamox says Pfizer on the box ~ I'm not sure when it switched to Zoetis). The Zoetis rep. was very nice and helpful, and this is what she told me:

Liquid Clavamox is sweetened with saccharin. (!!!!!!!!!)

Clavamox in pill-form contains sodium starch glycolate, which is a form of gluten.

In other news, Ripley got a fattened dose tonight. She is now at f1.0u. I'm more-than-happy with her numbers lately, but I'd like to see a little lower. I'm so proud of my girl.

Good to know. At least you can take the dose up and adjust so the numbers come back down.

I hope Ripples is feeling better.
