Yesterday's condo
Last nights +2 and +6 and today's AMPS have all been hovering around 150  He was very grumpy this morning that I wouldn't give him his breffis an hour early today but I got lots of suck up cuddles in the process. We Gorilla Glued a latch onto our trashcan last night so now it (seems) Willy proof!
I have extra cat collars in a drawer and last night I came up with a plan to put one (with a bell) on Zell so that Rasta can hear where he is because part of the problem is Zell likes to sneak up on him. I know Zell hates collars but I figured we would take it slow and give treats (my DH wanted to just slap it on him while he was eating but Zell literally goes into a full blown panic). I pull the collar out with Zell in the kitchen and he immediately runs and hides (he doesn't hide from anything). I was in total shock. He finally comes back around, and I try to lure him with food and he won't budge. I hide the collar and lure him with food and he comes but the minute he hears the bell he takes off. It even deters him from being in the kitchen while I'm feeding everyone.
So, I put the collar on Rasta figuring it might keep Zell back since he seems to be upset about the bell noise as well as the collar. I don't know if this is mean, I don't want anyone to be scared of anyone, but I feel like Rasta needs something extra. My fear is that Zell will be able to find Rasta easier because of the bell and it would only escalate his harassment or he would become scared of Rasta and start getting more aggressive out of fear. It's working out that Zell won't get as close to Rasta as he was (invading space was part of the issue). He isn't avoiding him and seems more interested than scared but he is giving Rasta more space. He IS seeking Rasta out when he hears him doing something, but he seems to stay back rather than running in and jumping on him. Rasta is acting all proud of himself, I'm not sure if this is because of the collar or because Zell isn't on him nearly as much, but either way he's been out in the open most of today and was zooming around last night despite Zell being around.
I hope everyone has a happy Thursday today! We have many of you in our thoughts and prayers.
