Natalia - what have you tried to switch Gordo to wet food? Maverick was a 4 month long process but since he had a diabetes diagnosis he didn't have a choice. I had to supplement him with syringe feeding that whole time to keep his weight loss in check. You don't have diabetes to deal with for Gordo though so you have a bit of a luxury and time. I can share some tips on how we did it with Maverick - down to the type of bowls.

Enana, you bad girl :lol: -The way to transition a kitty to wet food is to slowly mix a tiny bit of wet food into the dry, next day a little more...Of course there are some real stubborn kitties out there! cat(2)_steam But maybe you could try it--Just start with a tbsp-probably FF is your best bet as cats find it tasty!--Then add just a bit everyday!--Paws & fingers crossed that maybe it will work!!

Hi guys .. looking like some flat yellows for enana this morning! Sorry to hear Gordo is still on dry .. our civvie is also on dry, any wet food we put her on she got rodent ulcers all over her lips .. doesn't seem to happen with kibble *knock on whatever needs to be knocked on!* have a great day guys!

I feed him Purina DM, and he eats "some" of the fancy feast I put on his plate....he will eat everything off Enana's plate though. It is exactly the same dish. Prepared exactly the same way.
If the food doesn't come from a freshly opened can, he wont eat it. If it has been siting for a while, he wont eat it.
I have tried to stop all dried food at once. He stopped pooping and lost weight.
I have tried to introduce the food little by little. nope.
I dont know what else to do with the %$#@* cat. He is male, big, overweight. I dont want or need or afford a second diabetic cat.

Have you tried making a lap-able soup out of it with warm water? This is how I got Maverick eating it consistently initially. What about letting Enana take a bite first :lol:

I put a lot of water on it, more like a cream than a soup buthe just licks the water and leaves everything else behind ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile

So he can lap it up. I make it more like a soup than a milkshake initially. But if he's already liking it... it may not be the best way. Maverick was on kibble all his life before his diabetes diagnosis.

A had to use a fairly flat and shallow bowl. I found decent ones at petsmart but they were expensive. Oval shaped (not the one with the curve in the middle). Let me see if I can find it. The right bowl made a difference with Maverick. Man he was so particular.

Ok cool. I'll find them. I read somewhere that some cats do not like the whiskers to touch the bowl... ohmygod_smile Gordo is a neeeeeeedy boy.

To transition my Mickey to wet food, I had to use a lot of fishy flavors for a while. I think the first wet food he ate was either Fancy Feast salmon or Wellness Turkey & Salmon. Once he started eating fishy stuff, I fed just fish for a while (I know that's not good, but I figured it was probably better than dry food). Eventually he decided he could eat a couple of flavors of non-fishy Fancy Feast. He still won't eat anything other than those few flavors of FF and the Wellness Turkey & Salmon, and every now and then he'll eat Wellness CORE wet food if I water it down. I would love to feed a higher quality food than Fancy Feast, but Mickey would rather starve so Fancy Feast it is. He doesn't like people food either, and I guess the high quality wet foods probably have too much real meat in them (too close to people food). He seems to prefer byproducts. Whatever. :roll:
