I was able to get Terumo's from ADW. Have you checked with them directly? There were a couple of recent posts in this forum about people still being able to order from ADW.

As for Chiati's numbers, without more spot checks, the numbers look pretty consistent to me.
 
I ordered from ADW last week. Got the email yesterday that they were out. I called today and she said there are zero with it listed as discontinued. I tried to get her to put me on with someone who would know supplier info and she wouldn't do it. :(

They ran out once before and then they were back. I guess they bought up whatever was left and now they are gone. The problem is terumo and not the retailers. They decided to stop manufacturing them. I hope someone that successfully switched to another brand will post with what they are using.
 
Yeah I gleaned a lot of that from other posts. I was mostly irritated because I knew they had run out before and found more. Just wanted to see if this was the real end, or an end for the moment. But I couldn't get beyond a low level customer service rep.
 
I have been thinking about which syringe to switch to when my Terumos run out and have decided to go with the BD Ultra Fine (8 mm [5/16''], 31 G, 0.3 mL). This is the syringe described in Roomp and Rand in the article cited in the Sticky "Tight Regulation Protocol" (Linked for PDF download in the above-cited Sticky: look under "Management of Diabetic Cats with Long-acting Insulin (2013 Summary)" I have included the link below.) On page 8 of this PDF you will find a picture of the syringe held up against a "dose ruler", with a link to downloading the dose ruler. Once you figure out how the BD syringe and the dose ruler correspond to however you measure your dose on the Terumos, you will be able to "translate" the dose. When you download the dose ruler, be sure to print it out with your printer set for A-4 size paper (this is the standard European size; if you set your printer for "8 1/2 by 11-inch paper" (standard in the US), the chart will not be accurate.

Ella thank you for that. I'm leaning more towards those now.

How concerned do I need to be about the dose difference between the brands?
 
Probably it will take some trial and error to establish a dose on the BDs that is similar to your dose on the Terumos. But the markings on the syringes themselves will help. (The main problem is that so many of the syringes have inaccurate lines. That's why many of us use calipers to set the dose: we ignore the lines on the barrel of the syringe and base everything on the distance between the disc at the top of the syringe and the top side of the plunger.) However, since the dose ruler (which functions exactly like calipers) has been devised specifically for the BD syringe, I think that you will be able to arrive at a dose that is a good approximation of your present dose. Just be sure to discard those syringes that are way "off" with regard to how the tip of the plunger lines up with the disk/zero line. After you get used to the discrepancies, you can use even the inaccurate syringes. But start off with ones that look like they are accurate!
