So I left food out overnight and I think he aite a hour or two before AMPS so this number may be a bit inflated.

Just read yesterday’s condo. If you are home it’s a good idea to test at +2-3 and feed some lc food to keep him from going too low. Most feed several mini meals during the day and night. I do think his pancreas is coming back to life but you want a strong remission. The longer you can support with a little insulin the better.

Its interesting cause now in retrospect, I think Buddy had diabetes back in the fall right after the giardi. Post giardi he got a URI and started peeing a lot for 2-3 weeks, so we swtiched him from his Urinary SO kibble to only SO Wet food, then a few weeks later he got completely better (no insulin). Stopped sneezing, started peeing normally. Then about 6 weeks ago I let him have some kibble as a treat at night and thats when everything went downhill. I think its possible after the first illness he was able to get back to normal through diet control, then I screwed it all up 6 week ago by giving him kibble UGH

Live and learn. Does he eat the canned well? You might be able to ditch the SO and feed regular canned. At one point Max was on Hills CD for a very long time. I think it wasn’t needed so long. I was able to switch to regular canned when he was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis but unfortunately the pancreas was damaged from pancreatitis and the canned he liked was he and he became diabetic.

Right now im feeing him exclusivly low carb wet food, he's eating it ok.

He had a complete urinary crystal blockage when he was 3, hopefully that doesnt happen again without the SO. I have a prescirption for DM, I may get some of that, the only problem is he is thin right now and I want to put weight on him.

Max blocked when he was about 4 or 5. A vet pierced his bladder and I almost lost him. I know what you are experiencing first hand. I was at the ER many times until I was sure he wouldn’t block again. He preferred dry food and nobody suggested wet would have him one more often. :banghead: Fortunately it never happened again.

Its surprising to me Vets don't suggest to Cat owners on their normal checkups that wet food is better for cats

Sadly lots of vets don't know much about feline nutrition. My Ruby was in the hospital last weekend because she wouldn't eat and they gave her kibble knowing she is diabetic. I allowed it to happen because I was so worried about her going for too long without food but it's amazing that they don't even think about what's in dry food.
