Yesterday's Condo
After yesterday's conversation with the vet regarding the spikiness over the last few months of Attie's BG, I sat down and did some more thinking/research.
I am not crazy about shipping in 10lbs. of cat food for $100+. Honestly, I'm not rich and I sort of feel like I didn't bargain for spending thousands of dollars yearly to care for diabetic cat. Between food and test strips this is really starting to add up into thousands of dollars. I know $20 or $40 dollars a week doesn't mean much to a lot of you, but when you are trying to run a start-up business that's barely turning above the poverty line...it does make a difference. I've sourced my own food through Angel Food Ministries which their family weekly box of food gets me through most of the month.
And what does this have to do with Atlas' food? Well, I think we're going to do a few more food trials. We know he needs to eat raw food and it needs to be a unique protein. I know he won't eat the NV Venison, but we never tried the Bison and they now have Duck too. We have tried the chicken, but that seems to trigger the IBD and may not be unique enough. If I can use other proteins like bison or duck...it is less expensive than the Rabbit. So, I stopped at PSP and they did have a small bag of the duck, which we started last night. Cross your paws for us that duck sits well in Attie's tummy for us! cat_pet_icon
