So, I've been staying consistent with this dose of 2.75U for almost a week now, not changing it because I haven't seen a number lower than 50 (but I suspect he may be getting there overnight based on what I see before bed, but have no proof. I plan to do a curve tomorrow to see what's going on mid-cycle). A few times this week at PMPS he's been hanging in blues, some yellows mixed in.... but tonight a green PMPS for the first time in awhile.

I'm wondering if this dose is maybe too high for him, but I hesitate changing it until I know for sure and hit a lime green (as per TR instructions on earning a reduction) - I hope to catch that this weekend. Is that the right call? Or do I trust my instincts based on where I see he's headed at +3/4 in the PM cycle? Right now I'm stalling and waiting 30 min. to feed and test again. He can't miss a shot b/c of his history of DKA. But it seems odd to me that he is either having really late nadirs on this dose or getting carryover (if I'm understanding carryover correctly).

Well, after testing a few more times he was still in the 60s. I can't wait anymore because we need to stay on schedule and now we're almost 45 min. past, so I decided to feed him and give him his normal dose. Since it's Friday I can stay up late tonight and monitor to see how low he goes. My gut is telling me it's time to go down to 2.5 which I'll hopefully catch with "proof" on the meter tonight or this weekend.

Sorry no one answered your call. You stalled and he seems to be surfing. The theory is to shoot low to stay low. Hope you catch that reduction #.

Thanks, Tracey. I have to admit every time I read on the board about cats "surfing" I keep picturing a cat on a surfboard wearing board shorts and sunglasses, catching a wave. Sounds like a good time!

Yeah I hope I catch that low, too. I'm ready to reduce and get this kitty on the path to remission (but also partly b/c it's easier to measure 1/2 doses on the syringe instead of the quarter doses!) ;)

Good shooting and congrats on the reduction.

Lol so true.:joyful:

Remember that the depot of the larger dose will still impact his numbers for a few cycles until it stabilises down. So you may still see that reflected in the numbers over the weekend.
