5/18 Jack 418 AMPS/1.0 ketones

Well, this is just getting depressing. If this is new dose wonkiness, it's stressing me out big time. Jack had 50mls fluids yesterday, and I never heard the +6 PM alarm to get a reading overnight. This morning he is 418 and 1.0 blood ketones. I gave him 3.5units as suggested yesterday to wait out the wonky. I would have thought the new dose adjustment would be over by now; Jack is just difficult, I guess.

New dose wonkiness affects Cycle 2 and 3 of a new dose, so it's not NDW anymore.

Considering his ketones are on the rise and he should have been switched closer to 5U from Prozinc to Semglee, I'm going to tag some experienced members on whether his dose can be upped to 4.5 or 5U starting tonight.

You would need to get at least one test per cycle if his dose is to be fast tracked. Dosing is based on how low the dose takes the cat. A before bed test every night would be good. If he is much lower, you can set an alarm for a later test.

Thanks for your help.

You don't have to get a +6 test every night. That's just a "typical" nadir, not necessarily what Jack does for nadirs. If you can get at least a +3 or before bed test (if later) that would be very helpful it telling us what is happening at night.

Both Sienne and I suggested 4.5 units glargine when you first switched from Prozinc, let's make it so. But perhaps tomorrow morning when you can monitor more.

I will not be working from home tomorrow. I won't be able to get a test after his AMPS until at least +6hrs . Is that ok?

Let's see what he does tonight first. That's a much better PMPS. If you cannot test until +6, just make sure you leave some food around for him to snack on if he should need it.
