hmm... Shadow is holding her bg more as of late.... yesterday
Maybe I should just wave the insulin pen over her and see if she holds....

That is a late test today.... three hours after my husband fed her ( no fancy feast appetizer - i've about decided one of the flavors is raising her but not all of them - she seems to metabolize
one of them differently)
I didn't budge when he got up apparently, just layed there completely out.

I'm wondering if the adequan every 2 weeks isn't the best course for her. I'm observing , that's for sure.
She is still hanging out much of the nighttime hours on the bath mat instead of in bed. And that I just don't understand at all.

I am actually going to try to go to work for a couple of hours today .... and see how I feel.
After that $600 hit on the vehicle.... we can't afford any unexpected financial blow at all right now. And aren't they all unexpected? ;-)

So Marje, what's your opinion on Shadow this week?

Re: 5/16 Shadow ambg 102

HI Rhiannon
I hope you're feeling okay. Are you afraid to move your head? Susan's hurt when she bent over after the surgery.

It's odd how kitty reacts differently to foods of the same carb count. Checks bg raises with Sheba beef, more than FF beef, or even the other Sheba flavors.

Funny how they take a liking to a certain spot too. Checks hangs out either on the sink, even if the water is dripping.....or in his cube...but it has to be on the couch.

Any chance Shadow is afraid someone will roll on her? or did already at one time?

Re: 5/16 Shadow ambg 102

I am feeling a tad better.
My top teeth are very sore and numb at the same time. That apparently takes a couple of weeks to go away. I think the splints were putting too much pressure for my mouth.
And I can tell the inside of my nose is raw so as soon as it all heals and unswells...
I try not to bend over but I do occasionally and mostly that just caused a little bleeding. I've been squatting or sitting on the ground when I want to do something low.
And I avoid picking anything up heavier than Shadow.
The really difficult part is sleeping on my back. I hate it, I am a side sleeper. Just a couple of more days of that to go.

I think some of the seafoods spike Shadow and I suspect it's one of the fancy feast appetizers with the tuna skipperjack in it...
She's pretty much only eating friskies or fancy feast right now with me trying every other day on one of the other 400 cans in the pantry. (stockpiled)
She gets pretty excited about friskies tuna and egg in sauce which is an 8 or 9% and that's what she had in her bedtime dish all night and she drops most of the time on that one.
I can't figure it out.
She's being mysterious. :-D

Re: 5/16 Shadow ambg 102 pmps 100 chipmunk in mousetrap!

So... my dh came home from work. ( he rides bike)
and was out in the garage and found the dirtyrottonscoundrel chipmunk in a mousetrap.
As I predicted (but could not prove til now) , the chipmunk stayed in/on the vehicle.
That critter rode to Santa Fe, endured air compressor sounds, and then also mechanics under the hood and never ran.
It just held on wherever it was hiding.
And cost us $637.

My dh parked it inside the garage last night but he has mousetraps everywhere with peanut butter in them ( for mice) and somewhere in the night, the chipmunk , probably exhausted
and hungry ( as they are high energy - need calories) found itself locked inside the garage .
He tripped all 4 traps.
so he managed to eat off of 2...without getting hit and then #3 was on his rear leg which he apparently dragged to the 4th trap and that one caught his neck.

I'm sorry he suffered but I'm glad we know where he is and don't have to worry that he'll chew on the car again.
I don't like any animals suffering and at least mouse traps are fairly quick.

Re: 5/16 Shadow ambg 102 pmps 100 chipmunk in mousetrap!

So sorry to hear about Chip Chip's passing. He was a survivor for as long as he could be. I hope he is at the little rodent part of the Bridge, enjoying some nuts and seeds.

Keep on feeling better, Rhiannon. And keep on getting numbers in the "normal" range, Shadow.

Have a good evening, guys,

Ella & Rusty

Ow ow ow, on the facial pain!

When I had Moh's surgery on my lower lip for skin cancer, it was obviously numbed to high Heaven.
Still, when doc hit a certain spot, during cauterization, it felt like my teeth were being ripped out with pliers!!
Jerk didn't believe me, but a nurse asked me if that's where it hurt. It was obviously a common thing, or how would she have known that the pain was in my teeth?
TMI? :-D
Hope you're pain free sooner than anticipated, Rhianna.

400 cans of cat food in pantry? Bahahahaha...I hear ya on that one.

I don't wish bad things on little critters either, but I understand about the damage they can do. I've had huge bills from damage to my car, from mice making nests in motor parts. Red squirrels have torn apart the beautiful wood shed my dh and his sons built! Man, rodents can be so destructive.
Every year, it costs me, for repairs to my garden tractor, from mouse nests. grr_red

Oops, I forgot I wasn't writing in my own condo.

Re: 5/16 Shadow ambg 102 pmps 100 chipmunk in mousetrap!

Good luck on your dosing or not decisions with Shadow. She is in normal range but I agree very mysterious. FWIW, Neko has a working pancreas too. One time I gave her 8% instead of her regular 3-4 % LC and her pancreas kicked in big time dropping the numbers more that the regular LC did.

Sorry about but happy in a way about Chip Chip. Neko's on her way for grilled chipmunk.

Healing vines to your nose. I hope Shadow is a light weight.

Re: 5/16 Shadow ambg 102 pmps 100 chipmunk in mousetrap!

I was just reading that two good deterrents for mice and squirrels inside engines is either to spray wd40 all over the place.... they don't like the smell....
or to find a way to hang moth balls in a good quantity somewhere where they won't melt.... they don't like the smell of those either....
Maybe you can save your tractor....

Re: 5/16 Shadow ambg 102 pmps 100 chipmunk in mousetrap!

Funny you should say that, Rhiannon. One year, I did hang a small mesh bag of moth balls, under/in, the tractor , then forgot it was there.
When I started up the tractor, next Spring, it got all tangled up, in some parts, that I can't even name.
I had to have it taken to shop, to get it all cleaned out. I'm still hearing about that one, from the shop guys.
I didn't know about WD40.....mice also hate peppermint.
Don't put peppermint oil on cotton balls and put 'em in your car vent tho. What a stench!

What other hints you got?

Re: 5/16 Shadow ambg 102 pmps 100 chipmunk in mousetrap!

I have this trap that is like a box that they go in and can't get out of, I sometimes catch a couple at once. I then let them go a few miles from the house. Works great.

Re: 5/16 Shadow ambg 102 pmps 100 chipmunk in mousetrap!

You can get humane traps like Wendy mentioned. The other trick is an ammonia soaked rag inside a plastic container with lid, and holes poked in the container. They don't like that smell either. I got that trick from the local wildlife officers.

Re: 5/16 Shadow ambg 102 pmps 100 chipmunk in mousetrap!

I hope your pain goes away soon Rhiannon. I also used to sleep only on my side but have adapted to sleeping on my back with a pillow under my knees, so it can be done.

Re: 5/16 Shadow ambg 102 pmps 100 chipmunk in mousetrap!

I think the ammonia would evaporate quickly here in NM.

When I put it in my jewelry cleaner machine, it's gone in 2 days....

but if it would keep mice out of the garage, we might give it a try.... especially if we could make it half water and half ammonia.....

Re: 5/16 Shadow ambg 102 pmps 100 chipmunk in mousetrap!

My ex mother in law well she's mom to me since I was 15 she lives In Cucamonga Ca. the rats had been getting in her car at night a chewed through almost every wire under the hood $3500 to fix. and this was a new car. she has rat traps everywhere so do all the neighbors now others had same problem. And she parks in the garage now. I would be so mad and my car would have to sit I would be forced to take the bus "yuck" I can do anymore surprises Like a speeding ticket first one ever. lol
Well glad your nose is healing and it will take time,I'm putting mine on hold they need to take the broken piece of plastic out and do the rhino at same time. Well you get to feeling better.=^:^= Linda

Shadow is really on a roll w/ her numbers!

Boy, I am behind too! I hope your nose heals quickly! Ouch! Poor Chip Chip, but the damage they can do when they decide to make a home in a vehicle is unbelievable! The worst I'v had to deal with is moths, unfortunately a whole clutch decided to emerge and take flight as I was driving on the freeway!

Sending healing vines and Tess wants to know if you ned anymore soup?
