Good Morning, Everyone,

After Rusty's mid-yellow day and his pink PMPS and seeing this 272 this morning, he got a fattening of his dose this morning: up a drop from a straight 1.75 Units to a fat 1.75 Units (2.66mm on the digital calipers, Terumo syringe). Our trip to NYC really set him back, and he has not rebounded (in fact, he seems to be going up again for no apparent reason). I don't want him stuck in these numbers. If the fattened dose doesn't do the trick after 6 cycles, I'll be taking him up to 2 units! (I don't think he's ever been on that much insulin, but I know that needs can change.) He's acting entirely normally, so I don't think he's sick: good appetite almost all the time, much improved breathing since being on Allerplex, good litterbox contributions every day, interest in what is going on, excellent self grooming, at least one play session per day. His weight, which had gone down from 17 lbs last fall (too heavy) to 16 lbs. 2 oz. in early March, has gone up and is now at a good 16 lbs. 8 oz. (about where it should be). So on we go!

Rusty enjoyed his breakfast and his "lung treat" this morning, then we had our schmooze, and now he is in his little bed by the radiator. It's a sunny, windy day and temperatures are expected to get into the 60s. We have a lot to do to get stuff ready to take down to Camp tomorrow. I hope to finally get out on my bike for a brief spin this afternoon.

Everyone have a great day,

Ella & Rusty

Yo Kitties, The beach at Shadow and Raja's was great yesterday. What shall we do today? Anyone up for a stroll through the woods? We can look for critters and sample the fresh catmint, which is growing everywhere. We can throw some bison burgers on my grill after the walk and chillax on the lawn. We can make mintinis with the fresh catmint. See ya later.

Re: 5/16 Rusty AMPS 272; dosecrease

Glad Rusty is feeling and acting great...good report for him...oh, except for the BG number.....hmmmm...seems you covered just about all the reasons he might be high except for food. Any new additions to the menu that might be spiking the boy?
Hope that the added insulin will help bring the numbers down for yous....guess the waiting game is on the agenda, eh?
Hope you all have a good one!! Hugs!! :YMHUG:

CatMINT CatMINT CanMINT! And bison burgers, I am leaping out the back door now! ~Leo

Ugh, Rusty, DOSECREASE WARNING! Get your furry butt back down out of there!

Re: 5/16 Rusty AMPS 272; dosecrease

HI Ella.....I was thinking what Pat said. I wondered if the Paw Lickin Chickin was affecting him.
Hope the dosecrease does the job and we see those nice Rust numbers again soon.

It's gorgeous here too. I gotta get out and mow, now that the grass is dry from all this sun and wind.

Have a wonderful day.

Re: 5/16 Rusty AMPS 272, +5 285; dosecrease

Hi again,
I thought about the Paw Lickin' Chicken, but he doesn't get that much of it--maybe a 3-oz can over the course of two days, dolled out a little at a time as a treat (and he never finishes all the "shards" of chicken, because he can't chew them)! The staples of his diet: Wellness Turkey or Chicken and FF T&G haven't changed. He isn't interested in people food and only eats his own food. In total, and taking all three of his foods into consideration, he gets the equivalent of two 3-oz. cans of food per 24-hour day (he free feeds, but generally speaking he gets food set out 4 times a day: breakfast, lunch, dinner, bedtime. He also gets freeze-dried chicken treats at test times and a teaspoon of food at +9 in the daytime cycle.

Rusty had an exciting morning. I was outdoors with him when Edward came to call me to the phone. Edward stayed with Rusty, turned his back for a second, and Rusty was gone! We looked all over in all of his "spots". We thought he may have gone back into the house and looked there. The deer (4 of them) had been munching away in the "butterfly garden" (aka, weeds) and they had all stopped eating and were looking in the same direction. Sure enough. Rusty was in plain sight next to the garage. The deer were "pointing"!! Appparently he had been chasing the chipmunk and had hidden himself somewhere to ambush the chipmunk if he should show up again.

bbl, (not thrilled with the +5; usually he is on his way down at +5)

Re: 5/16 Rusty AMPS 272, +5 285; dosecrease

Hi Ella. Good luck with the Rusty's dosecrease. Sounds like he had a nice little adventure this morning. Funny how the deer pointed out his hide. Hope he comes down some throughout the day.

Enjoy your bike ride. Have a gret day.

Re: 5/16 Rusty AMPS 272, +5 285, +9 289, PMPS 248

Hi again,
The bike ride was a casulty of the extremely high winds and threatening skies we had this afternoon. But I did get my new car bike-rack set up and it will be great. Rusty slept a lot of the afternoon (his usual "down time") and his numbers have come down at PMPS, so hopefully this is a trend.

Off to visit condos,

Ella & Rusty

Love the picture of Rusty, hiding in plain sight, waiting to ambush poor little critter....and the deer 'tattling' on him.

What a nice flat day.....of course, we like green or blue better, but maybe tomorrow.

Wasn't that wind horrific today, Ella? I tried to mow, but kept getting grass blown in my face/eyes. I gave up!

Have a nice evening.

Re: 5/16 Rusty AMPS 272, +5 285, +9 289, PMPS 248

Yuck on the yellows, but I seem to remember Rusty gets a bit of NDW so will get over that soon enough. Paws crossed for some blues tonight. After climbing to 8.75 units last year, I learned not to get so tied to the number of units but more to the results.

I sounds like a yucky day weather wise with those winds. I guess they didn't bother Rusty enough to interrupt his hunt. He is feeling good. :-D Now about those tattletale walking venison burgers.....

Re: 5/16 Rusty AMPS 272, +5 285, +9 289, PMPS 248

Boy, Rusty really sounds like Trix these days, being stuck in flat yellowland for no real apparent reason. Like you, I don't want Trix sitting here, and she is also on her highest dose ever - F4.5, which will become F4.75 tomorrow if we don't see good movement. I've been increasing her as frequently as my schedule allows, to try and find the break through. She loves Paw Lickin, but as you saw in her condo, I'm working on trying out Wellness to see if we get better numbers.

I hope Rusty heads back to the lagoon soon. Have a great evening, guys!

Well, drat on those yellows. :-x Work that joose, Rusty. I know you almost had that chipmunk. Thank you for the canoe inventory and the invitation to paddle, Ella! It sounds like a bunch of fun. I just might take you up on it sometime. :-D :-D

Hi Ella

I hope a little extra jooce will help Rusty. It's great that he's eating well, is at a perfect weight, etc.

It's frustrating to have to go up but hopefully it won't take much to get him going again.

Glad you found him! That would have scared me.

Your other best boy is planning a visit...he wants to know of you can put him in a basket on your bike :-D

Hi Ella - sorry for the late post...

WOW- excitement for you guys: MIA Rusty! kinda scary isn't it? Mannie would do that too me now and then, and I'd find him eventually with that "what's the big deal" look on his face. he too was in "plain sight". ah Rusty.... no more scaring' your beans like that!

Good luck too with the dosecrease. maybe the little extra will get him jump started again.

bummer on the bike ride.... Hope the rest of the day was good.
