I think i'd increase the Lantus again before long, suzanne. He's just not wanting to budge, is he?! There is quite the difference since before 5/4 and after. I'm wondering about it - although he did make it to 128 on 5/12. Anything you could pinpoint that might have changed? I see the new pen, but he did bounce right before you made that switch.
Do you have another pen/vial that you'd like to try just to see if it made a difference? i wouldn't toss this one, but sometimes comparing to a new one can either confirm it's not the insulin or if it's super effective, that would let us know that it is.
What dose increment are you comfortable with? I'm thinking i might go up 1.5u or so to try to get ahead of his numbers - provided you'll be around this weekend after he gets done with his typical NDW. Or if you want to try another pen/vial, i'd stay with the same dose for another shot or two.

He is being stubborn! We usually see action by the 5th cycle, so if he's not lower tonight, I'll increase. I'm not opposed to 1.5. Ugh...he just won't find a dose he likes. Any dose will do Cobb! Any dose will do. Find one and stick with it please.
The only thing that has changed is that I've been feeding a zero carb in the middle of the cycle. I wonder if that is keeping his numbers higher? I just know he has a food spike after his big meal. I was trying to avoid him doing that in the middle of the cycle. Maybe I should just feed him all "mini" meals of the 5% carbs - no big meal at shot time.
I have more pens and 2 vials I can try. I actually never finished the pen that was giving me such great numbers when I went to see my parents when Cobb had his dental. Let me see where that is. Should I try it with the current dose or try it with a dosecrease?

i'd probably stick with the same dose - that way if you see good numbers it will tell you this pen isn't good. But there was that 128 . . . it's so hard to know. since you've got the other pen, i'd try it.
i'm not sure how much i believe the zero carb cat foods - i just haven't noticed that any cats have better numbers with them. maybe they do. not having tried one myself, i don't have any evidence they don't work, i'm just kinda skeptical.
punkin got his 3oz fancy feast at shot time and 1.5oz at +3 - i didn't do much with the mini-meal tinkering. he didn't dive and it seemed like too much work to me! :lol:

Ok. I'll try a different pen. Stick with the same dose. And if his numbers aren't better tonight, increase in the morning.
I'll also stick with feeding him his regular food tonight and see if that has an effect as well.

Good luck on the trial with the new/old pen. You might want to try that independently of changing his food back so you know what did the trick if it makes a difference.
I'm with Julie on the zero carb. Neko is on raw food, but I deliberately went with some that has 3-5%carbs in it. I have occasionally tried zero carb but I don't think it works as well.
