My little tank is doin' great =) He's been playful and racing about the house all week. Lots of purrs and headbutts too =) He's really loving the Falls! He even came and snuggled with me at bedtime, which is not something he's been doing. Usually he just goes to the end of the bed after some skritches but last night he flopped down and curled into me for a little bit =) I'm sure he was either hungry or cold but still, I'll take it ;-)

Isis seems to have settled in. She's already put on a wee bit of weight. No more fights or arguments between her and Boomer, she's slept outside of her crate the past two nights and I've left her loose in the house the past couple of days when I had to run out. She really hates the crate, it freaks her out big time. I'll have to work on that after my trip next week, but there just wasn't time to get her happy with the thing before then. Since she'll be here without a bean present for nearly 12 hours a day (PS will come in for potty breaks and walks tho) I just couldn't force her to stay in that thing while I'm gone, knowing what it does to her. If she eats my house or something, hubby will have to crate her no matter what but as long as she's a good girl we'll let her be free.

Some of you have already seen the posts in Community, so you already know about Brady :mrgreen: For the rest of you... I'm going to be adopting Brady from Louisiana. Poor guy has been in the shelter for three years! He's got a host of problems but I think most of 'em are fixable. He needs a different insulin than he's been getting, he needs to loose some weight, he's got chronic URI and because of the weight he's also got arthritis and possibly joint damage. We'll get him fixed up and feeling better in no time though!

We're trying to get together a transport for him from LA to GA so I can bring him home from my trip, so far we're not having a lot of luck getting him moved. I've put out a call to my knitting community friends, hoping that will maybe give us some more options. Cross your paws for us!
 
Congratulations on Brady! And so happy to hear that Tugger is doing well.

My dog was scared to death of her crate at first. Eventually, I had to simply force her in for the night. After about a week, she got over her fear and now recognizes it as her safe spot.
 
Isis is ok in the crate as long as she knows there are people here... it's being left alone that freaks her out it seems. She barks and howls and eats her blankets (which we no longer even put in there) and she tries to reach through the crate to pull stuff in from outside to chew up. It's pretty awful =(

For two mornings I experimented (the best I could without a smart phone and nanny cam) by using the house phone to call my cell phone, put 'em both on speaker and left her out with the TV on, Boomer for company, closed all the doors etc. I was gone for 35 minutes or so each time and she was very calm compared to when in her crate. She whined occasionally but not continuously and when I returned she was calmer than if she'd been in the crate. Nothing was chewed or even moved. So yesterday I left her out for two hours while I went to get my eyes examined for new glasses. She did fine again.

She worries when we go anywhere without her, even to check the mail or get something out of the garage. I think it'll take a bit of work to get her confident that we'll always come back. Boomer knows we will so he mostly just chills on his couch the whole time. I'm hoping she'll observe his calmness and mimic him ;)

Very nice report on Mr. Tugger and the family. I hope that Isis continues to be a good girl when you are gone so that she doesn't have to go back into that nasty crate! I am happy that everyone is getting along well.

Congratulations on getting a new addition to your family! Brady will be a very lucky boy once he gets to you! Good luck on the transport. If I could, I would help, but I live no where close to the transport route plus I have work both jobs tomorrow, so time is not on my side either. Good luck and I'll be looking for updates!

Great report on Tugger this morning...so happy that everything is going so well! Brady looks like a sweetie...my heart goes out to him. so great that you are able to take him...hope he can get to you real soon!! :YMHUG: You will open a condo for him every day and will be back with us, right? We will need lots of pictures too of course!! yay!!! :thumbup
 
Marvie, I am so happy you are adopting Brady. I have always hoped someone could adopt that poor baby. I thought of taking him myself, but with Blackie's other health issues I didn't want to risk it. It makes me very happy to know that he will be in your wonderful family.

I am also very happy that Tugger is doing so well and that Isis is adjusting. You must love challenge and change as you keep adding family members. :mrgreen:

My, you have a house full of fur-kids. Very sweet of you to adopt Brady. He's a big dude! :lol: You'll be a great mom for him! So glad to hear Tugger is doing well. That's awesome!
 
Yeah, he is a big dude! Tugger was his size about a year ago! He lost a lot with the FD and the canned diet seems to be keeping it off. He's a nice hefty 19.1 pounds right now. Brady is 24 I think... so we'll need to see about taking a few of those pounds off for him. Maybe once he's not patrolling the other cages and eating other cat's foods....

Marvie, that is great about Brady. He hit the jackpot for sure. Look forward to hearing more about him.

Hi again, Marvie, Just a quick note to wish you a good trip, a nice visit with your army son, and a good transport for Brady so that you will be able to pick him up on schedule. When do you leave on this adventure? We'll be thinking of you. You have a heart as big as Brady!!!

Amazing to be bringing Brady home. He is one lucky boy. I so wish I was able to help with the transport but kind of far from Canada. :lol: :lol:
I'd be there in a heartbeat to get him to you.
I know it will all get worked out.This board sometimes is just pure magic.
Max is lovinh having Tugger at the falls with him. :-D

Well, unless something comes through overnight it doesn't look like Brady will be leaving Louisiana tomorrow. We had two legs left unfilled (2 and 4) so it looks like it's on to Plan B! He'll get here, we'll get it done but it might not be immediately right this very second. Venita tried her hardest, I put out a call on the knitting forum to several different groups from general discussion to cat groups to truckers who knit and on my Facebook page, other people posted the call from there, but it just didn't happen.

There are other options though! All hope is not lost, it hasn't even wandered =)

I will be leaving here at 2:00 Monday night/Tuesday morning. Mapquest claims it's an 11 1/2 hour drive, I'm the sole driver and I'm not used to driving distances so I'm adding at least a few hours for frequent stops so I can rest or recharge my caffeine system as needed. I'll go easy on the coffee so I don't crash, but I have to have caffeine pretty much from the time my eyes open till I crash or I am not a nice person. I just have to ration it out enough to prevent headaches, while keeping me alert without crashing ;) Simple!

I am hereby vowing to follow all posted speed limit signs and use my cruise control as much as possible. *said after opening a $100 ticket I got in the mail today from a speed camera on the interstate in DC a few weeks ago. :oops: * I was clocked doing 60 in a 40. I'm not usually a speed demon so it must have changed from 50 or 55 and I missed the sign while running my mouth with the people in the car? I dunno, but I'm usually paranoid about speeding and don't go more than 7 over and that's when I've got clear roads mostly to myself and I've usually got to be pretty relaxed, when I'm nervous I'm usually the annoying one going exactly the speed limit. That's an expensive lesson learned :sad: I may have to rent my husband out (as a HANDYMAN geeze!) to get some extra money flowing around here. :idea:

No, Ele... I don't know what's come over me really :lol: I'm usually very boring, quite the hermit actually, we lead a calm and quiet life really... usually. But then I had that job. I was managing a convenience store and working crazy hours, always on the run or sleeping. Maybe something inside me liked the crazy?!? Maybe I just need to stay busy now... I've never really been into the housewife thing. Seriously, I suck at it. I maintain pretty well so it's not like our house is dirty even when hubby's not here to help. Maybe not white glove clean but it never is or will be. But it's something I have to work at doing. I am Not the type to clean because I'm bored or "just have a few minutes free" :?: I can find more interesting ways to spend a few minutes... the problem is the minutes slip into hours :lol: Having lots of things to do keeps me from hyperfocusing so much. I do it even when I sit still. I currently have 7 tabs open... no two are related :lol:
