Re: 5/15 Checkers 327+2/306+3/330

Good Morning, Barb & Checks,
Sorry to see you stuck, Checkers. Have you been into the kibble again? He seems to go into these jumps every once in a while, Barb. Perhaps you should graph them on your SS and try to see what the reason is. Anyway, Checkers, it's time to break out of that pink!!

Rain here today, so we're glad we paddled yesterday. How's everything in your neck of the woods?

Sorry I missed your condo yesterday. Did you know that you have duplicate condos today?

Hugs,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 5/15 Checkers 327+2/306+3/330+6/240

I never knew how pretty yellow can be.
He ate at +5, so I'm happy that +6, isn't higher. :-D

He seems to take longer to clear bounces on lev, than on Lantus. I'm assuming these latest numbers are because of the greens , four days ago.

Thanks for the heads up about duplicate thread, Ella. I hit 'enter' by mistake, doing the subject line. I didn't know it posted, 'cause I hit the back button to continue.

Re: 5/15 Checkers 327+2/306+3/330+6/240

Hi again, Barb,
to answer your comment in Rusty's condo about Canada Drugs Online:
Yes, I have been ordering from them for about 2 years (first Lantus for Stu, now Lev. for Rusty). Their price for the Lev. Flexpens is very reasonable because the Flexpens are made by Novo Nordisk in Turkey. This in itself is fine, since Turkish manufacture is very safe and Turkey is the main supplier for Europe. However, the Flexpens are shipped to you directly from Turkey and they are not wrapped in cool packs in shipment (they explained this to me when I inquired last summer as to why the Flexpens were so much cheaper than the Penfill cartridges). For this reason I pay the extra $ for the Penfill cartridges, which are made by Novo Nordisk in Canada and are shipped wrapped in cooler packs. The cartridges are $160 for a box of 5, whereas the Flexpens are $115.
Perhaps the Flexpens are now being made in Canada (the wording on the CDO website is not conclusive). But I really prefer the cartridges. They are easier to store and I don't like all that pen apparatus. They are really just little vials.

In any event, I have always been satisfied with the service from Canada Drugs Online and I would not hesitate to order from them. You have to open an account first, then they send you an e mail that your account has been opened, then you place the order. They e mail you a cover sheet for your vet to tape the prescription onto and fax back to them (or you can send them the cover sheet with the vet's prescription by regular mail; but if it is faxed, it has to be faxed from the vet's office). Shortly after they get the Rx, they will call you to confirm and then they ship.

Hope this helps. Whenever I have bought Lev. locally (in Flexpens, since you cannot get the Penfill Cartridges in the US), it costs $56. for a single pen at my local Kinneys pharmacy (that's $280 for a box of 5!!!). Even with the $10 shipping fee, I save over $100!

Have fun!

Ella

Re: 5/15 Checkers pmps 323

Phooey, another pink and yellow day.
I'm wondering once again if I should increase. He's seen green on this dose of .5, but not since 5/11.
He isn't even seeing blue.
Unless something happens tonight...and he never drops at night...I think he should get more in the morning, but a full .25, or just fatten the current .5, a bit?
Any thoughts?

Re: 5/15 Checkers pmps 323 pics..increase?

Barb

IMHO, he looked better on the .75u. Keep in mind that on the a.m. cycle of 5/9, those lows were probably shed talking so he did have some nice green on the 0.5 but it's certainly been a while.

I know you said he never drops low at night but.....given his propensity to come down, I just wonder if he is getting low at night? Although his AMPS was 288 on 5/11...look how he came down into green and went back up. If you
had not gotten any of those mid-cycle tests that day, you wouldn't have known he was in green, right? Same thing on 4/4. And did he bounce so hard on 5/10 because he came down and went up the night of 5/9?

BUT...even when he does bounce, he clears them pretty quickly. It makes me a little torn.

I think if you are up to the monitoring, I might increase him to .75u; if you aren't, I'd just fatten.....up to you. But....I'd also like to get someone else to peek in on his SS, ok?

Re: 5/15 Checkers pmps 323 pics..increase?

No dose or Lev ideas...but man oh man, do Checks and Clancy look absolutely adorable in those little vests! I love the way Clancy's fur puffs out aroud it!!! I hope Checks didn't follow through with his promise about the grass!!

Re: 5/15 Checkers pmps 323 pics..increase?

Okey dokey Barb.....how about an increase? As I said, I think he looked better on the .75u but you know best how difficult it is for you to test, etc. So your decision whether
to just fatten.

Good luck with the dosecrease.

Re: 5/15 Checkers pmps 323 pics..increase?

Oh man .. what adorable pictures! I love the kitties that get to go outside .. my girls have absolutely no desire to go outside .. they don't even attempt to run out the door .. no cute vests or leashes for them!

Re: 5/15 Checkers pmps 323 pics..increase?

Thanks Marje, you confirmed what I was thinking. I have no problems monitoring/testing, during the day.
I am somewhat of a testing freak on days with lower numbers. I really have a difficult time testing at night; I don't sleep well as it is.
Obviously I would, if it looked like he was coming down and needed to be watched.
I'll raise to .75 tomorrow.
Thank you.

eta: How do I know that he doesn't come down at night if I'm not testing? Marje, you were very diplomatic, to not point that out. :thumbup :-D
On the very rare occasion that I happen to get up and test, he was never low. You're right, he could be coming down and I just don't know it.

We always give them the benefits of doubt!
Same here, I have this constant question of whether Rosy did hit a low after my last test at PM +3 or 4. Therefore, these 2 nights I've set the alarm to get up for test at +7 ,+8
Nothing happened. Rosy did not come down after the supposed PM nadir. Maybe u can try out a day or two to test Checkers & put your mind at ease.
