This is what I'd like to see consistently, even with 1/2U injections:
5/13/2013 445 4:30 PM 1U injection
5/13/2013 349 7:30 PM +3 hours
5/14/2013 238 1:30 AM +9 hours
5/14/2013 190 5:30 AM +13 hours
5/14/2013 218 6:30 AM +14 hours
5/14/2013 198 7:30 AM +15 hours
Once we "evened out" those higher numbers at PM shot and +3, he's been what I consider stable and consistent. This is what blows my mind -- here it is 15 hours after his last shot, and he's still in some good numbers. Other times, he'll hang in the 300's and 400's through several cycles...
I've not given a morning shot (which would be 5:30 a.m. or +13 here) because he's below my comfort zone. He had 1/2 can FF at 1:30 a.m., 1/4 can FF at 5:30 a.m. and 1/4 can FF at 6:30 a.m. I considered 1/2U at +14, but held off because I knew he'd been on a mini-meal; good thing, because he dropped at +15. I'll check again at +16, just before I go to work, and then will be home for lunch at about +20 and will test then.
I'd be happy, and the vet would be too, if he'd stabilize in the mid-200's. Of course, under 200 would be wonderful, but with his age, I don't think that's possible.
