Hi Summer,Good morning, Laura. How is Toeby doing clinically? Purring, peeing, water intake, activity level, appetite, connection to you? Hope he comes down into some nice blues for you or at least more yellows. You will get there. Give it time.
Sounds like he is doing very well. The eating is critical so I'm glad to hear he has a good appetite. Also good that he has a brother to play with. At 16 it is certainly understandable that he is sleeping more. This is the first time in about 30 years that I have not had more than one cat. On one hand I wish I had a playmate for Susie. On the other hand I am kinda glad I don't have another cat to worry about getting in Susie's food or vice versa. We always root for one another on this site. Have a great day.Hi Summer,
He is pretty happy all around.
He still pees more and perhaps drinks more water than when normal, but his poops, appetite, etc are all good.
In his really good moments he plays with a catnip toy and/or beats up on his brother until his heavier brother stands up to him.
Toeby is 16 this year and spends more of the day sleeping with each passing year, so I cannot judge him harshly for sleeping.
I can just tell by where he sleeps whether he is feeling good or not - he'll hide away when he is not feeling good.
He has never been a cuddly cat - his brother is...
But he purrs readily when we fuss over him.
Thanks for rooting for us.
I would say that he is having a really good day. I do wonder how low he might have gone when you were out but if you left him a big snack he was probably very safe. I don't know if the bouncing is over but he is certainly doing well on this dose. That 193 might be an indicator that his BG might challenge you tonight. It will be interesting to see where his PMPS and +2 are tonight. You obviously have a lot of good experience with Toeby and that certainly helps you to know your boy. I hope you have a safe, surf tonight. Don't forget to feed the curve if he starts to go low tonight. Fingers crossed you both can get a good night sleep but don't forget to set alarms if you think he might go low.+10 and he's still in the blues!
Today is a bit of a mystery for me...
I had to go out for a few hours today - I was reluctant to leave him, because he was having a good drop this morning.
I was worried about him going low, but we got him to eat a big snack before we left, and made sure lots of food was down.
We left after his +3 test of 137.
When I got home I was glad to find him happily sleeping in a window perch in the sun.
I checked his blood and was floored to see 149 - my initial thought was geez - I hope this doesn't mean he went super low when I wasn't here.
(always thinking the worst, I guess)
2 hours later and he is 193...
Could this be the signs that his body is starting to work with the 0.25 unit dose, and not bouncing?
