Oh as expected...a high number.

I remember seeing Bookworm's posts and SS. Good to know that others have had tests similar to Merlin. I will go check them out that you mentioned. Thanks.

So today is the day that the vet wants to see a BG curve. Figures that Merlin is super high today just like the BG curve last week when the vet wanted to see one.

You can also do one on a day when he runs lower. I would want the vet to have both kinds of cycles before he decides to do anything with the dose…..

I am going to suggest something lower like 1.2u or even lower and see what he says. This last week's trial of 1.4u just didn't work overall. He bounced around too much and the nadirs just was not low enough. Do you think the tests that I did on previous days will give him a good idea? Today was the worst of the worst and I would hope that he doesn't suggest any changes based on one day of tests. The other thing is that I am gone from Wed - Sun and I don't want to make any big changes while my husband is testing and giving the shots.

Oh I am so glad for the 351 as it looked like it was going to be back in the 400's.

Rachel - I am suppose to drop off his spreadsheet tomorrow. Then after he reviews it (along with my letter that also provides my input), he will call me so we can discuss the next step. His last recommendation was to give 1.4u this past week and the prior week was 1u. Merlin actually will not see the vet.

Is the dental still on the table - assuming that the vet is satisfied that Merlin's BG is better controlled? If so, did he give you some idea what he'd like to see in terms of Merlin's numbers?

Because of his preliminary blood tests indicated "high" in about five categories he did not perform the dental procedure. He was hoping that if I could get the diabetic numbers better controlled with the addition of antibiotics - Clavamox, that the next blood retest would improve enough for him to go under for his dental procedure. So yes hopefully we can redo the blood test to see if there is any improvement.
