Giving a 1/2 tsp of Medium Carb at his +1 doesn't seem to be slowing Taz's drop very much. Since he's mostly seeing blues with occasional yellows and greens now, is the amount that he's dropping considered mild, or should I still try to slow it down? I'm trying to prevent bouncing.

Last night he was at 96 an hour after nadir, so I assume that he went below 90 but I didn't see it. Assuming isn't good enough though, right? We actually have to see it? He might have actually been close to it today too because he's still in his low 100s two hours after nadir.

Yes you actually have to see it for it to count. The reasoning is. Yes it's very possible he went below 90 but it's also very possible he didnt. You dont want to rush a reduction

I figured as much but thought I'd verify. :)

What should I do admit his MC?
Ok just looked at his ss it doesnt look like he is dropping too fast to me. Since you are usually unable to get a +2 it's hard to know ifnhe isndropping to much too fast. I see he is dropping but that's over a period of a few hours.

Are you able to get more tests at night when you are home? I know you leave for work and therefore unable to get tests till much later in cycle.

I'll try to get a +2 and +3 tonight. If not, maybe tomorrow night. I've been dealing with a sick hen for the past few days, so it's thrown off my testing a bit.

We just took Taz's preshot. It was 105, and a minute later it was 137. Not sure what to do or which one to go by? He's never had a preshot of 105. But I'm not sure if it was correct? Do I shoot at 105 (using Alpha Trak)?

Ok thank you so much! We just fed him and now he is 164 fifteen minutes after his first test (105). In the event that something like this happens (is this normal?), which reading would we go by?

So you can put them both in AMPS column.

If this happens again and you stall and restest if he is going up or down the decision would always generally be made on second test. You can safely shoot any number 90 or higher. Like tonight just make sure to ask yourself if you can test and have enough supplies.

Thankfully I have plenty of strips. It's frustrating because the second number was within a minute of the first but it was a difference of 31. It's gonna be a long night and I'm starting to get sleepy. :arghh:

How’d it go Sara? I see he went into yellow territory.
Good morning. Taz did fine. I, on the other hand, am beyond tired. Lol. It gets easier to not panic when you see new situations, but I still needed to verify which reading to go off of. But I guess it didn't really matter though, because I looked back on his SS and realized that I've shot a 109 before. I've been caring for a sick chicken, so I'll just blame it all on sleep deprivation and stress. Lol.

It's so weird. How can blood glucose differ so much from drop to drop when they're taken within a minute of each other? It really makes it hard to know if it's him, the strip, or the monitor.
