Hi guys,

I'm writing sitting sideways on the sofa. A black furry snuggle butt has made herself home on my legs. Love!

Keeping MJ and Butthead, Sienne's sister, Jan and all those fighting and grieving in my thoughts.

I saw Georgia shared an adorable picture of Simon yesterday. Made my day. I'd love it if you guys would post news updates here too... picture or video alerts for example. I can't visit everyone's condo like I used to be able to. So I skim the subject lines first. I miss so much. I have been keeping busy. Joined the gym, retail therapy (without the wallet most times), organizing the house, watching Henry and Victoria to learn more about them and their personalities. Henry is still fighting a virus. His nose is stuffed up so when he was sleeping last night all we heard was a nose whistle. He's in a steamy bathroom to help. He's starting to come out of his shell.

 on the nose whistle!

i've got a furry, but not purry, anya on my lap today. she's close to me, the laptop is on my knees, and she wants to put one foot and her head on my arm for a prop. makes it hard to type!

several migrating birds have returned to my feeders this week - grosbeaks, both the orange & black ones and the yellow ones.

one of my former youth group girls is coming over today to finish her quilt. i started the project with the kids two months before i quit, not expecting to quit, and have finished at home with the ones who wanted to. i think she's the last one who will actually sew hers. there are 2 more in pieces but i suspect i'll need to finish those.

oh for my camera. it's in my daughter's car at her place at the coast . . . and at the moment i have both male and female orange and black grosbeaks on the deck rail - such a picture that would be. *sighs* next week i'll have the camera back.

I love grosbeaks. Not sure what birds are in your area. Probably the rose breasted and the evening grosbeaks? They are neat birds aren't they.
I love bird watching. We see great blue herons all along the little area we go kayaking. At the feeder its such a mixture. I have to look up the name of the zebra headed sparrows. Let me find a pic. I get such a kick out of these guys. Found out its a white crowned sparrow.

Karrie, we also get the White Crowned Sparrow. Or as my DD calls it, the Bicycle Helmet Sparrow  Oh, she's 40. :-D

I so wish I could see videos. I wrote the co. that keeps promising Broadband, to my area, but haven't heard back.
It was in the local paper, that we would be getting it in April. Umm, I think not.
Down the road 1/3 mile, is cable. Not us. All around us is high-speed. We get ancient underground phone lines, for internet connection. I think they're making us wait, so we'll be happy to pay anything.

I need to make up my hummingbird solution. They usually arrive the 15th. Oh, how I love to sit on the deck in the evening, and watch them do battle over one feeder, when there are several to choose from.
One bird will hide in a tree and swoop out to chase the interloper, chattering warnings, all the while. Oh I love summer.

Hehe, just had a little wren screaming at me, 'cause I was near her nest box. Or should I say "one" of her nest boxes, since the little buggers, like to fill all the Bluebird boxes, that the swallows don't get to first. Grrrr!

Yay! Wednesday! Today is my DH's last day of school--- 2 finals today! I am so proud of him and all the work he put in this semester despite everything that has happened! He decided last night that even if he doesn't pass his classes with a high enough grade, he is proud of the work he did. He has been studying or doing homework/projects every single day for the last 3 weeks (excluding when we had to leave town for an emergency which really set him back). I am all smiles because I will finally get him back this weekend! Yay!!

Zell's random but perpetual bullying has caused Rasta to have a few accidents in a hidden corner of my living room. I'm going to need to move ALL of my furniture (2 sofas, a coffee table, and a nordic track) out in order to properly clean it up. Zell has been resource guarding pretty badly the last few days. Anytime Rasta makes for the gate, he chases after him.

I am ordering some diffusers and will be looking for flower essences to try to help with the situation, but until then I think I need to put a dog proof litter box in that corner. I really really don't want a 5th litter box OR a litter box in the living room but I don't think I have a choice right now, poor Rasta. My living room is pretty small and it's PACKED with furniture so I don't know where I am going to fit it.

At least my DH will be home this weekend so he can help me clean up (finally! he hasn't done his chores or any chores in like 2 months)

heheh a little payback time, eh, stephanie?! nothing like having to help clean up kitter messes!

they're evening grosbeaks (yellow & black) & black-headed grosbeaks (orange & black). we get both for just a few weeks each year. it's like grand central outside my window right now with teh feeders constantly full of birds. i can't remember ever having so much traffic. lots of purple-headed finches & american goldfinches as well. chickadees & nuthatches too. my ID book is downstairs - i need to go pull it up.

how did you put the pic in, karrie?

I txt'd him to tell him about his special prize/gift while he was at work and all he responded with was " -_- " so I am sure he is absolutely thrilled!

I would do it, but I can't move some of the furniture without a lot of trouble (winkity wink wink). My living room needs to be rearranged anyways, so I'm going to try to view this as motivation!

Greetings, all! Just stopping in for a little chatter.

We don't get too many interesting birds in my neighborhood, but the cardinals should be back soon. We do, however, have suicidal brown birds of some sort or another. They keep crashing into my living room window, I can't imagine why it's happening so much. :?

I'm not getting many furry snuggles here today. It's far too nice out for that. Suits me fine, my two are shedding like mad

my windows are covered with anti-bird-hari-kari stickers. they only sorta work. there was a dead purple finch out there yesterday, probably crashed into the sliding door - the only thing without stickers. i bought more today.

we get golden-crowned sparrows and white-crowned sparrows too. uh, i meet bike helmet sparrows! those are also seasonal - i've seen them quite a bit over the past couple of weeks.

I hate to be ignorant, but I don't know what a grosbeak looks like and have never heard of it. If it is not a robin, hummingbird, or bluejay, I don't know what I am looking at  Every year at this time, we have a mama bird lay her eggs in a nest in our chimney. It drives Simon crazy because he can hear all the chirping in the fireplace. He will sit next to the fireplace for hours so it is great entertainment for him. Once, one of the birds fell down into the fireplace and we had to chase it out of the house. Fortunately, Simon is not a good hunter and didn't even get close to it!

LOL Georgia! I'm with you! Actually the first bird that comes to mind was a chicken. I think I need to get out of the city more often.

Your picture of the cats are cute!
