Re: 5/11 KATIE IS HOME -Updated
Posted in a hurry this morning so now I will fill in the details. Katie is walking and not using the wheelchair much. She has to go to the hospital once a week for follow-up care. She will have more surgery to remove the granulated tissue so the wound can heal properly. She is NOT allowed outside so I'm glad she got to hug her horse. She weighed 92 lbs on discharge. She is eating and regaining her strength and I'm sure she will gain the weight she has lost, hopefully quickly. She looks very gaunt but she is still with us and that is fantastic and a miracle.
Staying inside will be difficult for her. She was quite happy to get home - I don't think she realized she would be housebound. Of course, with the open wound she does not need to be exposed to the barn area and the dirt and dust there. She is such a brave young lady she will make it through the balance of her recovery. She survived almost 3 months in the hospital so this will be the easy part.
I told Kelly about all the wonderful prayers and vines provided by her special friends in LL. They are both very thankful for all. Kelly believes that is what pulled her through and I do too.
Another miracle thanks to LL. I'll keep you updated as she continues on her road to recovery.
Again, thank you for all you support.
