Hi Everyone,
We switched Basil back to foods of about 3% carbs and under and his numbers look like old times! He is, however, fusy about his food, so I have had to mix some 7 and 5% foods in with the 2% to give him variety. I mean literally mix, in one feeding, and I mean mashed together to make picking out difficult.
So, from this ten-day experiment, it seems that he goes into the low blues more when the carb count goes up. Our question is can we give him those higher carb foods (7, 8 or maybe even 10% some day) from time to time? I think these low blues are still healthy numbers, right, so it sounds like it would be okay. He does love variety and I love having him eat without resorting to putting chicken dust or catnip on his food because he grew tired of it.
WCR: He's just great and so happy! He, unfortunately, brought in three tiny fieldmice one evening last week and a rabbit the next morning. All were alive and well and had to be captured and escorted to safety. He plays, gives head rubs, and sits in laps purring so loudly it's like a mini-jackhammer. AND he is singing and howling and carrying on half the night just sounding exuberant. His sister the civvie continues to improve every day as the weight melts off from her all wet food diet.
That's it for us!
