Hello everyone!!
Hope you all are having a great day!

we had a very nice amps and I think I figured out why his numbers are wacky
for the last few days

He threw a fit lsat Friday and refused to eat the tender beef that I have been feeding him everday
so I went out on Saturday and bought cases of FF low carb, but other flavors so
he would start eating.....

he is so sensitive I think the difference in food is making his numbers go up in the beginning
and he had been eating so much more at dinner that he does not snack as much during the day
so his numbers go down...

I think for dinner I will give him the beef and see what he does

Thanks and hope you all have a great day!

So you think his numbers are lower when he doesn't free feed? That is good info to have (as would be knowing that grazing helps.) Any way to use an automatic feeder to help the process?

There are some cats that are super sensitive to carb levels and you can sometimes manipulate their numbers by staying in the lower carb range. The comment section on the side of the spreadsheet can be invaluable for keeping track. If this is the case, then any dry or higher carb treats will probably skew the numbers also.

Good detective work. :-D

Hi Sue,
ANy change in food, even if it is no carb will effect his numbers...
it seems that being consitent with the same food will keep his numbers down, I dont understand it

I tried to control when he does not eat, like not eating 2 hours before I take his blood
but he goes crazy and that is when he attempted to go down stairs, which now he does not
have access to, but he gets CRAZY when he is hungry...typical male! he starts looking for plastic
if he cant find food!!

so i guess my question is...do I keep him eating more at one meal so he goes lower later in the game,
or do i go back to feeding just the beef and have him go lower mid cycle...
do you think it matters?

I don't know. It is part of this sugar dance and he is not teaching you the steps so you can follow  I think you could experiment and see what difference it makes - does food mean a lower nadir mean a lower ps or a higher one? Change some things up and keep track of what you did and see what helps and what doesn't. If one flavor means lower overall numbers and he will eat just the one flavor, I would stick with it and maybe experiement with when you feed it?

How much before the am and pm testing does he eat? If it is more than an hour or so, that can really throw off your numbers.

I know he eats at 2am, sometimes 3am and I take his blood at 5am
woulndt 2 or 3 hours eating before be ok for testing?

I have been feeding him the FF beef only for months now, and I think he is so sick of it
he refuses to eat, so I had to give in , he can be very persistant!

maybe I will do a curve on the FF beef only
and a curve on the other FF low carb and see what happens
guess I am going to have to start playing with this whole mess and see what is best

I hear ya Denise. Kitties can be so finicky about food. My cat Max was a die hard dry eater and was not the easiest cat to switch to wet food, not the hardest either. He has chosen Fancy Feast Classic Chicken as the only wet food he will eat at all. LOL. Hope he doesn't get sick of it.

Sounds like you are on the case! It is always nice to have some insight into the wonkiness and hopefully you will get it figured out soon. I would probably feed whatever way keeps him the happiest - I am a fan of the easy route. :-D
