Sorry I disappeared Saturday. A rough family weekend with Mother's Day and my sister being gone.

Pedro is at the Vet's today doing the Cushing's test. The consultant suggested going on with it. I have been driving myself crazy tring to decide to do it but decided to go ahead while he is feeling good rather that second (or third) quess myself if he starts to go downhill again. Will have more news tonight based on results and consultant discussion. Pedro stresses when he's there so we'll see how his BG does once he is home and settled back in. (Geez - I stress when he is there, too)

So the question of possible OTJ trial from Saturday's posts. I think that below 120 is "normal" and have been pondering this but wondered about his over 100's days and that he has still been a bit "off" in terms of eating. This weekend was the first time I felt like he was really back up to his regular eating levels and he started to eat a bit of his raw diet again. Yeah!
I have to be away this Thursday to Sunday and I'm thinking this is the time to try 'cause my DP will be with me and I really don't want to have to bring Pedro along. Too stressful on him. So this may be the start. Not the best as I won't be there to test either but may be what I have to do.

Ask D or Libby, Sienne, or one of the dosing helpers to confirm whether this is viable at this time--Looking so so good for you both!!
Let's see what the others think..

Looks like Jill & Libby gave you the go ahead for an OTJ trial Saturday, did you see that, Amy? Soooooooo exciting!! Good luck Amy & Pedro!!

oooohhh Amy, this is getting exciting! I'm glad Pedro is getting back to his regular eating levels. Maybe today won't be so bad... I hope. I know he hates the vet but you made a good decision to get the testing done while he's feeling good. It probably will be easier for him to get over the vet stress since he's getting back to normal. Everything seems harder when you feel bad and I imagine it's the same with kitties.

I hope you can start your OTJ trial soon and even if you have to be out-of-town during part of it.... well, so be it! It sure would be easy if Pedro didn't need shots and you didn't have to worry about the dose. Zero dose is easy to measure, you can do that with your eyes closed and a big smile.

And, just between you and me (LOL!) I had to be away for 4 days when BigMac was on his OTJ trial and there was no testing going on... I actually celebrated with LL and his party when I was 800 miles away and hadn't tested him. But don't tell anyone, that is NOT standard operating procedure. When I got home and finally tested him, he was fine. Sooooo, I understand that sometimes you just go with your gut feelings.

Best of luck on whatever results you get from the testing. Whether it's good or bad, it is so very much better knowing. We test for a reason, so you will be confirming suspicions or eliminating a possible cause.

It is great to hear Pedro is doing well and maybe this visit will not be as stressful as the others in the past. And good luck on that thing you mentioned in the subject ;-)

Yay Pedro!!! Jumping up and down over here!!! He brings himself down from the blues all the time...he is doing so great!! Sending NO Stress vibes to your boy while he is in for the test....waiting anxiously for the results....the trial will be so exciting!!! Go Pedro!

Amy...I was just wondering where you get the meat you use and what type you use for the raw. I have to go to the supermarket and do some research and then i will fill you in on what I find.....
Good luck today....looking for your update already....I have no patience....he is still being tested, I know, I know...sigh....talk to you later!

Somehow, I just don't think Jill would have suggested a trial if she didn't think Pedro would succeed. Are you going to be one of those beans where we send someone over to take away your syringes?

my thought is that it is called a trial for a reason. If the trial doesn't work, you can always resume shooting, but if you don't try then you'll never know if Pedro could be OTJ or not.

He has been in normal numbers for a long time. While he was on the pred there was good reason to keep the insulin support going, just in case, but now he seems like he's ready to give it a go.

When Jill and I talked about Pedro, though, we agreed that you are very much in tune with him, so you're the best person to decide whether to start a trial or not.
