Well, it is monday and Latte IS walking. Now she has just decided to stop eating. Grrrrr! It took until her +5 to get about 1/2-2/3 jar baby food in her. I did see her munch on a few bits of kibble under the piano, but nothing substantial. Nothing gone overnight and it looks like her water was barely touched either. No interest in pred treat, so I had to pill it. Not touching bfast and only wanted a few licks of baby food.

I reduced her bupe to 2x/day yesterday. Last nights dose was a pain to draw up with lots of bubbles. It had 2 air pockets in it, so I gave .01 more to compensate. Maybe it wound up not being enough? I will see how she does when I get home today and give it three times today if need be.

Im sad that she looks so blah this a.m. She did come into the kitchen once and I did notice a bit of a limp or misstep with her back leg twice.

She constantly makes me nervous. Im glad we had a full weekend together, without having to leave the house...and that she was receptive toward my being there.

I work a dbl today. Home for +10-pmps, then shoot and run until +3. :YMSIGH:

Hope everyone has a good monday.

Hi Carolyn, Latte may just be recouping from her busy day yesterday and the party last night (I hear that she played a mean game of Scrabble with the other senior kitties). She might appreciate a restful day all to herself. (You, however, won't get too much rest with your double day!). So I guess I'll just say: hang in there! Stu might drop by later and bring Latte a little treat.

Re: 5/10 Latte AMPS-392, +1-333

Hi Carolyn - I hope all goes well for you today, and for latte. She is such a trooper. Many positive thoughts headed your way.

Re: 5/10 Latte AMPS-392, +1-333

Good morning Carolyn...sounds like a yucky day for you, work wise. I hope you don't worry to much about Latte. She just may need some quiet time to herself too.
Sending some eating vines to Latte...and throwing in some white lites and snowflakes to go along with it. Latte is a trooper...she will eat, she will drink, and she will be merry....got another party to go to tonight, you know. Spot is bringing his scrabble game along with him tonight also so that Latte and him can have a sit down powwow. He knows that she won't be able to play tugger-war and he really wants to make sure that she has a good time!

Re: 5/10 Latte AMPS-392, +1-333

Hoping the "blah" and limping is due to doing too much yesterday. Hopefully while you're gone, and not there to impress (!) she'll chill, sleep & rest. Fingers crossed.

Hope your day passes quickly, and it's uneventful at home!

Re: 5/10 Latte AMPS-392, +1-333

Oh, I am with Amy 100%....she will have no one to dance around for today with you gone....so that will be a great time for her to rest up. :thumbup

Shadow and Raja are not allowed to call her but they are thinking about her. I told them that she is probably napping and I don't want them waking her up! She absolutely needs to rest. They understood and hope that she knows they love her and are praying for her....
Hoping too for an uneventful day for her and a speedy feeling one for you!
Always thinking of you girls...sending HUGS and lots of love!!! :YMHUG:

Hi, Carolyn & Latte -- Happy Monday to you both. I am soooo happy to hear that Latte is walking now, bless her heart - she is a trooper. What is Latte's age?
Hoping you both have a better week & looking forward to Latte eating too!!

Re: 5/10 Latte AMPS-392, +1-333

Max took very good care of her at Scrabble's party and plans on doing the same

Sending some eating vines over to her.

Re: 5/10 Latte AMPS-392, +1-333

Here's hoping that Latte is sleeping the day away between nibbles and just takes it easy until you get home.

Re: 5/10 Latte AMPS-392, +1-333, +9.75~426

awwwwww, this is a cat that had to have gone lower than she is used to, or did it really fast. A lot of kibble gone...and I do mean a lot! Almost an entire can of wet food gone, and more water than you can imagine. Add the +9.75 BG and the story is told.

She is miserably thirsty, but maybe too full to drink as she stands at her bowl crying. Tummy gurgling.

Cat nip toy far from the spot I left it this a.m., so she apparently had some sort of party.

I am going back to the bupe 3x/day when I can because I think it made a difference. Her regular vet called and said she will need at least a few weeks of REST. i dont know how you make a cat rest, but I am trying. He wants a recheck on a urine culture by wed. since she is done with a/b and still sitting high with sugar in urine. He really does not know what to say about her BG numbers other than the gigantic swings she is taking on a regular basis is probably making her feel pretty bad. :(

Nicole-give or take a month she is 18 in July. She has been the best, most tolerant , well behaved kitty her entire life.

Thank you for assuring me everyone that maybe Latte needed some space today. It helped to read that. Though I certainly wish I knew what was going on while I was gone.

I will send her off to another party tonight as I leave for my next job. Thanks to all the kitties watching over her, making sure she gets the continued rest she needs.

Carolyn,

If you have a smartphone, you can set up a webcam and see what's going on from your phone anytime of day. I did that and it works fine. I use an app called Ustream.

I'm glad to hear she got back to eating. You just never know how they feel at any given time, so it's nice to see she has her up times where she can knock off the kibble and a can of food!

Latte spent1.5hrs out of the 2 I had home between jobs sitting in front of her water bowl crying...but not drinking. She wouldnt take anything I offered by hand. She just stared at her bowl and cried a very sad meow (not her usual scream). I have never seen this from her before. I asked over and over what I could do for her, but never felt a clear answer.

She was very difficult to get meds in before work. I cried.

I burst into tears (again) when I got home and she jumped up to greet me for pets and purrs. She went back under the piano and sits not looking all that great. I dont know how much longer I can watch her like this. These high numbers or bouncing is only adding to her suffering. I am frustrated . helpless and scared. I am starting to feel really sorry for her and all she has going on.

Sorry to be such a downer after such promise over the weekend. I wish There was more I could do to keep her comfortable.

Carolyn,

As hopeless as it may seem to you right now, she has come a very long way since the weekend. She did eat well at one point today, so she is taking care of herself. She does seem to be struggling with something, and it may be her diabetes, but she has shown such resiliency in just the past few days that you have to believe she has more fight left in her.

I'm not sure why she cries at her water bowl, but maybe you could try something different, like a fountain to see how she reacts.

Thinking of you and Latte,

Jason

(((((carolyn)))))
i feel your sense of helplessness. i'm so sorry you're feeling that way. you are doing everything you can possibly do. healing takes time.
i wish i had more to offer...

it's hard to read this and feel your pain. It does sound like Latte must have had some good hours today, if she ate that much and played with her toy. Maybe she just overdid it and needs more rest.

(((((CAROLYN))) I am so sorry you are so frustrated, I would be too! You are being the best Mom you can to your baby. Wishing Latte healing vines and you calming vines!!! Take care, lots of hugs to you and Latte from me and Scrabble!!!

this sounds so mean..... but if she was playing w/ her catnip and now she is in pain crying and vet said rest....... put toys up? will she watch tv ? --- some cats really like those bird and mouse videos/dvds.
maybe some sedentary entertainment. if not interested in tv how about some fish? nothing fancy.
a couple goldfish and a nice lid on top ?

can you do something to release some of your stress? It does rub off on latte. she knows what you are feeling.
I have been there. jojo once told me to sing a silly song outloud and loud to winnie. I did and it worked.
It sounds like you need some serious self pampering. If you don't take care of you , you won't be able to take care of latte, k? maybe a nice bubble bath and some wine and music and chocolate and favorite movie.
I'm sure you will think of something.

take care,

i am by no means a vet but i know bupe only lasts 8 hrs. i think it's important to keep the pain meds up to get ahead of the pain. but she may have overdone it yesterday (by "it" i mean moving around), and felt the aftereffects later.

keeping prayers going that latte will feel better and worry you less asap.
