I hate these delayed reactions! But it is what it is.

Cobb is way too high this morning so we're working on bringing him back down today.

We'll see how it goes.

Happy Caturday!!

Cobb, get down from there! You're stressin' your bean out.

I hope he comes down for you today, Suzanne. I'm continuing to send prayers out for your friend and her family.

Suzanne you have the patience of a saint. I, on the other hand, have no patience. You are so good to Cobb. :YMHUG:

We've been doing this for awhile now. I wore out several pairs of patient pants. Being upset at the numbers was putting everyone in the house on edge. My husband could tell where Cobb's numbers were simply because of my attitude.

Ultimately, I figured it is what it is. I don't test him as often as I was in the middle of the night because between him and the baby, I was getting zero sleep. Usually if he drops into low 100s or lower, he comes and begs for food and wakes me up. I can't watch him every second. I do my best, but I have (and you have) so much else going on. You gotta keep living your life too!!

The high numbers do irritate me. Don't get me wrong. But before we switched him off dry food, he was consistently HI on the meter for any curve we ran for the vet. We are lucky we didn't end up in DKA. I know a lot of your fear comes from concern for another episode. I suppose our experience is one reason why the higher numbers don't freak me out. Piss me off? Absolutely! But even at 300 Cobb is doing SO much better than he was this time last year.

It was said to me often (and I realize it really doesn't help), but remember the cat is more than the number. If you aren't playing with and enjoying your furry friend, why go to all the trouble and expense of treating them and prolonging their life?

This is SO important! Punkin had so many high numbers, but he loved life! he purred loudly enough to be heard in the next room, and he spent a lot of his time purring! He loved to eat, he loved to be held - i reminded myself that in spite of the numbers he had a great life. Thanks for reminding us all of how important that is.

and in other news, i just wanted to say that you've done a super job of helping recover from the delayed shot the other night. Looks like he's just about back to normal. well done! :-D
