Well i phoned to check on my big kitty this morning, grandpa said he's doing fine. He was outside playing all day yesterday, but was very lethargic last night. My parents figure Leo misses me......he tends to get that way after i drop him off at my parents while i go to work, or maybe because he was busy all day outside. I'm hoping that's the case as well and there is nothing else wrong with him. So i told my dad to love him up a little, he needs lots of hugs and pets to get him through the day, my fathers answer: "Leo is going to turn into a sissy if you keep babying him!!" LOL. I don't know many people let alone cats that can handle 2 insulin injections a day, plus multiple ear pokes! :-D That's a tough cat if you ask me.

Leo also got a dosecrease to 2.0 units this morning as well, hopefully (fingers and paws crossed) that brings his numbers down even more. Grandpa was kind of scared to increase him, but i just told him if he's that worried to check him a couple more times today.

You know i spend alot of time on this forum and i didn't realize how many people take their kitties in for dentals. I am kind of embarrassed to say that i have never taken Leo in for a dental. When i was trying to figure out what was wrong with Leo and when i took him to the vet, he took a pretty good look at Leo's teeth and said that he had a canine that was half broken off (its been that way since Leo was just a kitty) and a normal plaque buildup for a kitty his age, but otherwise his teeth looked good. I'm wondering if i should take him in to the vet to have a more thorough look......and maybe some x-rays?

Opinions please?

Re: 5/1 Leo AMPS 374

After Trixie's experience, I am a strong advocate of dentals, and particularly the x-rays. When our vet looked at Trixie's teeth during her regular exam, it appeared that she was missing a few. When the vet took the x-rays, she saw that the teeth weren't missing; they were broken and the six roots were still there! No doubt, this was incredibly painful and problematic for Trix. Now that she's all healed up, she eats way more comfortably, and good things seem to be happening with her BG. I have to admit, this was also Trixie's first dental. Because of all this, I'm going to start lining up dentals for all my civvies. Because of the expense, I'll have to spread them out a bit, but obviously - as I've learned - it's extremely important to kitty good health!

Since Leo has a broken canine, I would definitely have a dental and x-rays done on him, so the vet can get a really good, proper look at what's going on.

Leo is one lucky kitty to have such adoring grandparents!!!
