I'm super impressed by how well you're doing, to this day I sometimes have to poke multiple times. But usually because I'm trying so hard to do it gently and just barely break the skin, and it's not enough. Sometimes it works perfectly though and he doesn't react at all, wish I could perfect that though.

I guess the AMPS in the pink is a bounce @Suzanne & Darcy? Faraday maybe going to work in higher numbers today trying to clear it?

if you're looking to understand this so-called bouncing more, @Cali S :

  • Bouncing - Bouncing is simply a natural reaction to what the cat's system perceives as a BG value that is "too low". "Too low" is relative. If a cat is used to BGs in the 200's, 300's, or higher for a long time, then even a BG that drops to 150 can trigger a "bounce". Bouncing can also be triggered if the blood glucose drops too low and/or too fast.The pancreas, then the liver, release glucogon, glycogen and counter-regulatory hormones. The end result is a dumping of "sugar" into the bloodstream to save the cat from going hypoglycemic from a perceived low. The action is often referred to as "liver panic" or "panicky liver". *Usually*, a bounce will clear kitty's system within 3 days (6 cycles).

Good morning Cali and Faraday. Happy May Day to you.
Second day on Lantus and you hit the greens! That is VERY impressive. Maybe you are also experienced on the greens at the Augusta National, home of the Masters.
And you sounded cool and calm in your posts. Sounds like you listened to the advisors and followed. Faraday must have sensed his mommy’s confidence. After all you did say he chose you. Keep it up and Cali and I will stop by on occasion to cheer you on.
 
Good morning. I’m not at all surprised he bounced. Bounces often take 4-6 cycles to clear but some clear quickly. Some cats are bouncier than others. I hope he clears it quickly.
