Re: Bud 6/8 amps 126 0.5u +5 170
Not necessarily. ECID - so depends on her normal nadir and what the rest of the cycle looks like and the cycles before and after.
Some cats nadir as lat as +12 - meaning their PS's are always the lowest point and around +6 is their highest point. However, I have read that an inverted curve can be a sign of too much insulin. I think if you have an inverted curve, but no wild swings otherwise it isn't too much insulin.
What I think is a bit of a red flag for too much is inconsistent numbers. Let's say the +5 is an indication that she went low before her PS and is on the way up in a bounce. Most likely, tonight's PS will be high. Then she will be high enough that tonight's dose doesn't cause a bounce because it has all that "extra" BG to take care off, so tomorrow's am PS will be good. But then she may drop low during the day tomorrow and start the whole process over - it's sort of a 36 hr cycle when the dose is just a little too much, but not enough to cause a low and bounce every 12 hrs.
Specific to Bud: she is coming off that low the other night that caused rebound and her dose was reduced - things are still settling so I wouldn't make any changes right now (unless she drops really low again). Plus, her appetite is still low? That's a factor (of change) as well.
