outside 2-4pm. didn't eat after breakfast @ 5:30

So where is she at now?

Regarding not leaving food down all day. I know that a lot of vets think that way, mine included, so I compromise and be sure to feed Tigger mid-way through the cycle, usually just some cooked chicken breast. It keeps his cycle pretty level that way and then he isn't starving by the next mealtime. But I wouldn't go so far as to not feed him all day between meals.

If you can't be home to do that a lot of people use a timer feeder.

I hope you get a shootable number before much longer. Looks like you got some help on Health. Thanks Marcy for posting the link.

Remember this happened back in April and you may have waited too long for a shootable number. I think your vet said 150 which happened at +3 and then Bud just kept rising after that.

Oh, and welcome home!

Re: BUD PMPS 48

+13.5 BG 78

Well............ now. Ms Bud is getting less happy after this 7th test.

Reckon I'll keep it up every 15 min anyway and shoot the 0.6 when she gets up there. Since i'm not planning any trips this month, I can shoot the next one at +11.5 and gradually get her back on the 5:30 am/pm schedule It's 7:00 here now.

(apologies to those that read the unedited posts that said +14... I'm still badly jet lagged and the +2 time difference is confusing me)

Ya... Bud's always been on free feed. But Kara noticed that when she went out during the day, her numbers were lower than when she stayed in a lazed around and grazed (see the notes last few days). Kara went to 1 can at each meal for the 2 cats and another 1/2 can for them at 11ish AM and 11ish PM. I've only been doing the "no food except after shot" yesterday and today. Tomorrow, I'll go back to the 1/2 can at the 11s.

Re: BUD PMPS 48

I raced home from work. That's some surf Bud's having. Did you shoot yet? It looks like it on your ss, but since you're still posting +14...maybe not??

Re: BUD PMPS 48

yes, a long slow surf. if the rise continue's to be slow does anyone think he dose could be reduced further? .4 perhaps.
does'nt look like bud is going anywhere fast.

Re: BUD PMPS 48

Please don't get a ticket on our account! But we really appreciate your concern and help!

Yes, did a 14.25 BG 93 shot 0.5f

Gonna do the 0.5 at +11.5 trying to get her eased back to the 5:30 schedule in case I go out of town again. It was 7:45 when I shot. Now it's 8:00

Going to give the 2 cats a 1/2 can at 11ish AM/PM tomorrow.
Vet called and agrees with that plan that Lori and I, et al, worked out :D - the 0.5 and extra 1/2 can at the 11s

Read the importance of the +1,2,9,10. Will try to get those but I'm concerned about the +7+8 as that's when it looks like she starting to go low.

Thoughts, ya'll?

Re: BUD PMPS 48

well the budster is definetly going in one direction so the shot is definetly warrented. maybe +2 tonight to see how quick the insulin is or is not kicking in?

Re: BUD PMPS 48

"long slow surf"

Is that a *good* thing? Does that mean the organs are producing a relatively steady dose of what they're sposed to be doing?????? Oh, please let that be. I really could use some good news

Re: BUD PMPS 48

oh honey...numbers like these are always good news. is'nt it a bunch nicer than a run or reds or even pinks?
i think it just means the insulin is really working the way it should. levemir should ideally be used in a way to maintain a number thru out the cycle with not much change. like tom starts at 130 surfs the 90's all day and closes with a 127. rather a continuous non stop surf

Re: BUD PMPS 48

OK, thanks.

I'm gonna go eat ice cream. take a lil breather. will get a # @9:45 (+2) in 1.5 hours IF hthe princessa will let me. She's kinda not happy about all the pokes.

I'd so love a start at 130 surfs the 90's all day and closes with a 127.

Re: BUD PMPS 48

Ice cream sounds darn good right now.
"I'd so love a start at 130 surfs the 90's all day and closes with a 127." I think we all would!

Re: BUD PMPS 48

oh god, i just ate 3 fudge klondike bars. who can eat just one?

Re: BUD PMPS 48

and marcy..i've got to update tom's ss. it is true, those are his numbers!

Re: BUD PMPS 48

 tummy ache.....i can't believe i ate all that :YMSIGH:

Re: BUD PMPS 48

Hi Beth,

I'm glad you're going back to putting food down later in the day. It is not a good idea to manipulate BGs by withholding food. You work the insulin around the food. Feed them a good quality canned food and have it available either throughout the day or via a timed feeder. The lows today were caused by not having food and are exactly why there should be food left out for a diabetic cat on insulin.
