I figured 189 with a 2-3 hour onset would be fine to shoot - Giving higher carb food. I forget how often we are supposed to test when they go below 50, though.

Not really rising, but actually flat. I agree with Bron, you want to get up over 50, I'm not familiar with your type of insulin, but I suspect you'll likely need to reevaluate/reduce your dose for next shot.

Yes, Christie is correct, you have earned a reduction in dose. I am going to tag @Kris & Teasel as she is familiar with Prozinc.
Also Tina, when things settle down , could you set up your signature please which you can find under your user name at the top right of the page. In it tell us date of diagnosis, age, type of insulin and meter type, other illnesses, meds. It will save us having to ask you all the time.
Also have you been testing for ketones?

Yeah, we are down to 42 again. Gave another tablespoon of gravy.

I am thinking we should go down a full half unit tomorrow. We should have reduced a quarter tonight, but he was doing pretty well and I didn't want to lose that momentum. What are your thoughts?

First up you need to get Boozle up over 50 and keep testing. You might need more than a tablespoon of high carb.
I am unfamiliar with Prozinc, so I will tag @Kris & Teasel and @Rachel for you.
You definitely need to reduce the dose but I will leave it up to the girls who use that insulin.
Please post bsl in 20 mins

He's on 1 unit. We were going to reduce by .25 and decided not to since he was eating twice what he was yesterday. Bad call, apparently.

He was floating in the low pinks this morning, so not too bad, but the massive drop looks like it has him feeling kind of icky. He didn't eat much on his own, but he did not resist hand-feeding, so I got some calories in him this morning.

He was oddly restless last night. Every time I fell asleep, he would get up and crawl up on me and get closer. I put him in with the other room with the other kitties and he seems to be resting well. They snuggle with him and clean him, so maybe he gets some comfort. I may get a nap!
