Yesterday was.... alpha day in Mannieland   , and vetty day ;-) It was good t see Mannie leave the alpha floor at the beginning of the cycle. Paws crossed that we won't ever go there again.... I am sure it is a bounce from the lower stuff from the day before. Hard to fathom a bounce from the yellows... I hope that once we get the appy back on board that I can consider some dose adjustments. in the meantime, I hope for a good day today, blues would be so cool! but... I will take a day like Saturday any day. Mannie - here's to you, some very strong feel better, be blue vines. Lubs ya big guy! cat_pet_icon

The vetty appointment went well yesterday. We still have some bridges to cross, but all in all it was a good appt. I thought I'd repost what I wrote yesterday in case any one wants to read it. From yesterday: IM VET REPORT: Mannie's weight continues to drop. We are now down about 5/6 ounces from his last visit. His BP was way high: at 2 220, up from 180 last visit. The IM vet says that high BP can be a side effect of the anemia meds he is receiving. His BP meds will be increased to twice a day, same downstage. HIs anemia levels were the same as last week: 23%. It still is way to low, but has not worsened. The meds he is receiving (darbopoetin) most often take 3 weeks to begin to show improvement. In her view the fact that they have not worsened is good. He received another injection today - they are given once a week. So now we wait another week to see if there is improvement. We did not recheck kidney values this week, maybe next. He is still listed as stage 4 CRF. We did discuss appy, and her recommendation is to add mirtazipine to his med arsenal. That will be added today. Things were better this appt: it wasn't gloom and doom as the last one, though the weight loss is a concern. It is hard to say how long he truly has, alot depends on whether he truly responds to the anemia med, and if his response to CRF stuff slows any of downward progression. I know I can say his muscle strentgth is not improving (and we hope that any response to the anemia meds may help there - if we get that), we have good days and then some that are not. We are treading water this week - things look maybe a bit optimistic in our ability to be able to keep him content and happy, at least for the next few weeks. he seems to be. Next appt is set for next week.

All is well in MannieLand. :-D :-D The vetty appt occupied most of our day, well my day. Mannie was a gentleman while there, did all they asked with a general aloofness. and - no prezzies on the floor! WOW on that - he alwyas leaves prezzies or at least pees on the vet techs. not yesterday.... ;-)  He did well until he decided it was time to go home, then I got the paws at the door, the meows and general protests. One happy kitter when we walked in the door. We did get some sunshine late in the day, so of course his internal sunshine enter went into overdrive and he found every last sunbeam in the house. well... there were only three, but he did use them all. :-D Appy was so so this morning, as it is every morning now. LB is normal, Ketones tests have been negative. Test was good this morning, as was the shoot. Normalcy in MannieLand. :-D yes, it is normal. Mannie said so.

Have a great day everyone! I am off to Seattle later today to visit friends for coffee. WOO HOO! social day! :-D

Hey everybody! I SURVIVED THE VETTY! what an ordeal.... I so want a chillaxin' day - like on Rusty's radiator! And lots of cimmamum cookies!!!!! You guys in? let me know - I am ready for anyting!~~ Mannie

And completely OT: Here's the Picassa link to some photos I took while out on a hike yesterday after Mannie's vetty appt: Cougar Mountain

Re: 4/9 Mannie AMPS 273

Good morning Michelle,
This is a good start to the day for Mannie! I hope it continues. Nice beegee vines and prayers to you Mannie. Normalcy in Mannieland makes the whole world perfect! Enjoy your visit in Seattle today. whoo hoo - out and about!!! I really enjoyed the pictures from your outing yesterday. Those trails are spectacular! I loved the bleeding hearts..were the purple ones passion flowers? That's quite a nice camera, takes great pictures.

My sweet little barista.. i'm lovin the espresso with the Hawaiian beans! starts my day just right! I'll be having my MochaMannie special a little later with that wonderful scone.. My day is gonna be great!!!!!!

Let's get to the radiators pronto. It's wet and cold here. My feets got wet and cold when my bean took me outside. YUCK. Why does she do that? She should get her own feetsies wet and cold and leave mine warm and toasty!! See you in a sec.. oliver

Re: 4/9 Mannie AMPS 273

Hi Guys,
Very nice AMPS, Mannie. Keep it going--down to blue, OK? The espresso was super good this morning, Kitteh Barista!

Hi Michelle,

Those are great pics of the early spring woods. How lush the woods are in the PNW! I really like the shots of the fungus and, of course, the waterfalls and the rapids. Glad that you took the time to get outdoors.
Have a good time in Seattle.

Ella & Rusty

Hey Mannie, I'm on the radiator right now and it is nice and toasty. We have a dark, rainy day, but indoors it's great. We can bake cimmamum cookies later. See ya soon,
Rusty

Re: 4/9 Mannie AMPS 273

I'm so happy that Mannie enjoyed all 3 sunbeams yesterday!!! Hope there are more today. I'm also liking that yellow start to the day. Here's hoping that he enjoys some time on the blue floor and that his appy picks up for you. I'm so jealous about how sweet he is at the vet's office! (Even if he usually leave prezzies for the vet and techs! ) Would be nice is Shasta took notes from Mr. Mannie! Enjoy your day, Michelle. Pets and scritches to Mannie!

p.s. Shasta will totally partake in some cimmamon cookies! :-D

Re: 4/9 Mannie AMPS 273, +2 364

Hi guys .. thanks for the IM report again, I didn't catch it yesterday .. Glad to hear overall the visit went well .. we just need to get a few extra ounces back on our boy! Mannie, head on back down dude, lots of on goings at the lagoon! Have a great day guys!

Re: 4/9 Mannie AMPS 273, +2 364

Hey Mannie,

ooooooh no rainy day, nasty weather here! It's sunny, warm and going to be 80! It's a great day here and I think we should spend time on the porch. I've got comfy chairs all set up and we can get porch service too! So, we never have to leave the sunbeams. The bean will serve us our fuds and drinks! I bet we can get her to make us cookies and all we have to do is lounge and eat. We won't even have to bake them ourselves!

What do you think - you in? Rusty and the rest of the gang will love it here - we have lots of birdies and squirrels to watch too.

Signed Maui the Magnificent, getting an early start on summer tanning

Hi Mannie - thank you for today's delivery. I was pleasantly surprised to find a plate full of warm cimmamum cookies with my tea this morning. They are so yummy. Thanks Kitteh Barista!

Re: 4/9 Mannie AMPS 273, +2 364

364 @ +2. appy is just awful this morning, but somehow we got enough in him. By +2 things had improved, but of course it took a new can of fuds.... ;-)

Morning Mary ~O) ~O) ~O) It was a good start, even though the +2 is up, I till hope that maybe this morning can be a good cycle. THX on Seattle, and on the pics from yesterday. I really like this camera: a Panasonic Lumix DMC-zs8: a point and shoot with an awesome lens. not too sure on the flower names - I so need to learn them! LOL!! The hike was at a local mountain, not too high of a one 2200 feet max, but they do a great job on the trail system there - well maintained through varied and really nice woods. a very popular place here. I only did about 1/10 of that is offered.
Auntie Mary - you is too kind!!! I will e sure and bring more later. getting all set now!~~ MochaMannie, kitteh barista

Morning Amy ~O) ~O) ~O) I think so too! +2 is up, food spike, even though he didn't eat as much as I would have liked. I hate this morning appy boycott!  So Mannie... Amy and I want you yerllow again. How about it?

Morning Ella ~O) ~O) ~O) THX on the pics. Cougar Mountain is by Issaquah, and is hikeable for the most part year round. Things are really starting to green up now, the trillium were out, and all looked so great. The waterfall was wonderful - wit all the rains it was very full. I was glad I chose that trail option at Cougar yesterday. Yupp on the fungus - we do grow those well here! ;-)
Auntie Ella - I sure am trying! i luv being yellow in the morning. I think I shall return there. YaHOO on the espresso this morning. I gotta make another round to Auntie Mary so I will bring you another, i LUVS my job!~~ MochaMannie, kitteh barista

Morning Devon ~O) ~O) ~O) no problem on the IM repost. I thought some would want too see, as alot, like me, are on more in the mornings than the afternoon/evenings. i so agree; he needs poundage - sure am trying to get there. it will be great if we can get the appy back, then the pounds will come.

Auntie Hillary! You is so welcome! We been hard at work making cookies. They is my favorites! You want more? I can bring some then I come to pick up Maui. ~~ MochaMannie, kitteh barista

Morning Deborah ~O) ~O) ~O) me too on those sunbeams. I'm really glad that we are starting to see more sun, warm spring sun, so he can soak it up. I think it helps him feel better. THX too on the appy - it is such an ordeal! The mornings are the worst.... THX on Mannie at the vet. I was surprised at how relaxed he was. that was nice! I will pass on the pets and sritches.

Shasta you gots to come too! I will picks you up!~ Mannie

Maui - WHAT? You gots sun and 80??? What happened to the rest of us. sheshhhh.... where is our sun, huh? OOOOOOOOOOOOO! I LIKES your porch idea - we will do that, for sure! It is so col that we can get porch service too. The squirrels well sell everyone on coming,. and the birdies? nom nom nom? well maybe on that. I'd rather have the cookies. See ya in a few!!~ Mannie, tanned and lovin' it.

Rusty - DUDE! Save me a spot, Ollie too - we is so ready!! OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Cimmamum cookies too. YUM YUM YUM - we is on our way!~ Mannie

Oliver! DUDE! i am so there too..... we is cold, but no wets yet. I think I want to split this place before they show. heeheehee on your eban! Mine does that too - thinks she is doing me a favor and all. no kitty wants wet cold feetsies... silly beans!~~ Mannie

Re: 4/9 Mannie AMPS 273, +2 364

Lovely yellow start today. Paws crossed Mannie works his way back down there today. Ugh on the fuds. I hope Elsa isn't fussy about cleaning up the left-overs or unused cans.

Loved the photos of Cougar Mountain, especially the still life of raindrops on vegetation. :-D There is a lot of pretty flowers there and nice waterworks.

Mannie - Radiators sounds perfect today, sunbeams have gone missing here. I'll help with the cookies! ~Neko

Re: 4/9 Mannie AMPS 273, +2 364, +5 505

505 @ +5. DaRN IT! There he goes again... ah Mannie, feel better dude, and come down some. :-D

Hi Wendy ~O) ~O) ~O) It was such a great start, and nice to think hat maybe he surfed there for a while last night. :-D Bummer that we are now Black again. And yes on the fuds: poor Elsa gets the left-overs, but she doesn't seem to mind. YAY! THX (!!) on the pics. I love the pones where I can get/capture moisture on anything - they add such a dimension to the everyday. This mountain has several creeks that run through it, and although he waterfalls aren't tall ones they are exceptionally pretty. It should be very pretty there in a few weeks when the native flowers her kick in.

Neko! You got is - they is primo at Rusty's - you'll see! I know on the sunbeams - I gor one this morning for 5 minutes then they went anyway. so uncool, ya know? Pics you up - we is off to bake cookies and sit on them radiators. Pig-out time~~ Mannie

Re: 4/9 Mannie AMPS 273, +2 364, +5 505

Mannie, come back! I'm sending Zener with the ropes, he can be a good anchor today. And I'm sending mega feel better vines too. Hugs to you, Michelle.
Liz

Re: 4/9 Mannie AMPS 273, +2 364, +5 505

Mannie! Wrong way big guy! I hope you both have a wonderful wonderful day.

Radiators are a go. Pick me up, k? - T

Re: 4/9 Mannie AMPS 273, +2 364, +5 505

That will show me for being so late! Come back Mannie, I need a second delivery of that great Hawaii Ka'u blend espresso! Hmmm and maybe a mocha too! YUM!

Sorry to have missed so much lately, I just got too busy in the studio and then too wiped out at night. Good to hear that the test results were at least not getting any worse. It takes time to get all those meds balanced. Any luck finding the NV raw? I was just looking to see if anyone else in my area carried it and I thought I'd do a search for you too. http://www.naturesvariety.com/locator/us/Edmonds, WA Just avoid the Duck, Bison or Rabbit, too high in Phos.

Mannie! Radiators, sunbeams and cookies! I feels the need to BAKE! -- Tess, LL Chief Pastry Chef

Re: 4/9 Mannie AMPS 273, +2 364, +5 505

Mannie, what are you doing way up there? Come on down!!!

Michelle, my vet recommended mirtazipine for Cleo when she stopped eating in the beginning. Just as a warning -- it made her act so crazy and she meowed all night long and would not sit still the whole night. Cleo ate well after the first dose, but then it didn't do anything for her after that. I think every cat reacts differently to the med so hoping Mannie does well on it and starts eating his fuds.

Please take care of yourself, Michelle. You have alot on your plate right now.

Re: 4/9 Mannie AMPS 273, +2 364, +5 505, +11 313

I hope the new meds being tried really help Mannie feel better! Sending appy and healing vines, and hugs. I also hope you had a nice coffee time with friends :-D

Re: 4/9 Mannie AMPS 273, +2 364, +5 505, +11 313

Glad the vet report didn't have any new issues to deal with and paws crossed that time and medications will improve how Mannie feels.
What caught my eye was that bg traveling upward today and then it dropped.... Yay for that!!
Mannie turned it around and didn't go alpha.... :-D

Re: 4/9 Mannie PMPS 299

299 @ PMPS. yay - yellow! barely... Appy is still not so great. I called the IM vet today and we have decided to add cerenia to the mix, to deal with any nausea issues that Mannie may or may not be experiencing. I am beginning to think that the pepcid is no longer enough. SO we will try this ad see if it helps with his desire to eat. We tried a new food too: Weruva cats in the Kitchen: french Dip does anyone know the carb content of this one? It's not on Dr Lisa's revised list... and CHick -a-fis? HE seems to like them well enough...

Hi Liz - yupp - another day on the ropes. But they seem to ahem worked - w are on the yellow floor! YahOO! Many thanks for the vines - so appreciated. and the hugs too!

Hi Melissa - Many thanks - the day was great - got our some and had a great time. Mannie seems to have turned this around - yahoo!

Hi Rachel - thanks for the visit! and the vines and hugs. we appreciate it so much! Me too on the meds - paws crossed! coffee time was great - I had a great time!

Hi Rhiannon - Oh me too on the vet stuff. so we wait a week and see if things improve. paws crossed! Yes, so glad he came back down. Not alot of fuds on board today, partly why I think. I will take that yellow tonight - it is nice to see. I am so glad he didn't go alpha!! :-D :-D :-D

Hi Ann - no problem on the condo thing. I can so understand how it is. I'm in the same boat. try as hard as I do I keep missing people.... agreed on the test result, no worse. I wish I could say tings were better. well - he is holding his own, seems content and happy and that is the main thing. on yes on the meds - it does take time, we are still adjusting and will probably have to do more too. He seems to be handling that aspect ok. My local pet shop has raw, I see that shop is on the list! YAY! THX for the link and for doing that research for me. I so appreciate that. THANK YOU!

Hi Georgia - he did - down some, and I will take yellow! Thanks for the mirtazipine info. Someone else said their cat acted crazy too. I've given him one, and he was OK. We shall see it it helps. if not there was another one she said we could try. And thanks you so much - i ave to admit the plate is darn full! Thank you for thinking of me. :-D

Hi Josie - Thank you for that - I do try... thanks too for the vines for Mannie. he's such a trooper, keeps on trying t do his best. :-D

Tess, LL Chief Pastry Chef! I LUBS saying that! So so cool - you be the best pastry chef ever! heeheehee - perfect combo isn't it! let s do it! ~~Mannie, not such a good pastry chef...

Mr T - You got it! on my way - can I do wheelies??? see ya~~ Mannie

Re: 4/9 Mannie PMPS 299

Hi again,
So great to see Mannie coming down to PMPS!
Weruva has the complete nutrition percentages as-fed of all their foods on their website. Here's the page for "Cats in the Kitchen, cans"
http://www.weruva.com/catsitk-cans-nutrition.php
Wouldn't it be great if all companies did this?

Have a good evening and keep those better numbers tonight Mannie, OK?

Hugs, scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 4/9 Mannie PMPS 299

Hi Michelle - yay on the YELLOW for the Mannster!!! Squeeked it in by one point the little devil did!

I came home to find a pile of 3 toys that Leo plays with, and he has NEVER made a pile before. And one of them was a NANNER!!! I think of Mannie every time Leo plays with one of his nanners (2 in my apartment and 1 at home). They are the greatest toys a furry little boy can have. Scritches and rubs to my favorite kitteh barista! Have a good night, Michelle.

Re: 4/9 Mannie PMPS 299

It's nice to see some yellow for Mannie today. Hopefully he'll keep sliding down tonight. I hope the Cerenia helps Mannie's appy.

Re: 4/9 Mannie PMPS 299, +2 320

320 @ +2. not too bad of a fuds spike! YAY! We may get a good cycle tonight. :-D

Hi Ella - THANK YOU for the link!!! That is son great, and I totally agree. it would be so great is all companies did this. He really seemed to like it - and the qaulity looks good. so we shall see. they don't appear to be too high in carbs either, if I read the chart right... LOL! i hope he keeps those better numbers tonight too. :-D

Hi Lisa - yes: yellow by one point! YAY!!!! I will take it. up at +2, bur that's OK. he still made yellow. WOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Leo made a toy pile! I LOVE this!! :-D :-D :-D oh gosh - that is so Mannie! He loves sleeping on top of that pile. I agree: best darn kitty-nip toys ever.   THX: I will pass on those rubs and scritches.

Hi Carla - thanks - so do I on the cerenia. paws crossed big time. I hope he slides own some more too. many thanks.

Hi Barb - I agree! I ever did see or post that +5.  Works for me. without it, it was a decent day.

Mannie, sweetie, What your momma said! Look how much fun you can have in blue. xoxo us
