Yesterday was.... alpha day in Mannieland   , and vetty day ;-) It was good t see Mannie leave the alpha floor at the beginning of the cycle. Paws crossed that we won't ever go there again.... I am sure it is a bounce from the lower stuff from the day before. Hard to fathom a bounce from the yellows... I hope that once we get the appy back on board that I can consider some dose adjustments. in the meantime, I hope for a good day today, blues would be so cool! but... I will take a day like Saturday any day. Mannie - here's to you, some very strong feel better, be blue vines. Lubs ya big guy! cat_pet_icon
The vetty appointment went well yesterday. We still have some bridges to cross, but all in all it was a good appt. I thought I'd repost what I wrote yesterday in case any one wants to read it. From yesterday: IM VET REPORT: Mannie's weight continues to drop. We are now down about 5/6 ounces from his last visit. His BP was way high: at 2 220, up from 180 last visit. The IM vet says that high BP can be a side effect of the anemia meds he is receiving. His BP meds will be increased to twice a day, same downstage. HIs anemia levels were the same as last week: 23%. It still is way to low, but has not worsened. The meds he is receiving (darbopoetin) most often take 3 weeks to begin to show improvement. In her view the fact that they have not worsened is good. He received another injection today - they are given once a week. So now we wait another week to see if there is improvement. We did not recheck kidney values this week, maybe next. He is still listed as stage 4 CRF. We did discuss appy, and her recommendation is to add mirtazipine to his med arsenal. That will be added today. Things were better this appt: it wasn't gloom and doom as the last one, though the weight loss is a concern. It is hard to say how long he truly has, alot depends on whether he truly responds to the anemia med, and if his response to CRF stuff slows any of downward progression. I know I can say his muscle strentgth is not improving (and we hope that any response to the anemia meds may help there - if we get that), we have good days and then some that are not. We are treading water this week - things look maybe a bit optimistic in our ability to be able to keep him content and happy, at least for the next few weeks. he seems to be. Next appt is set for next week.
All is well in MannieLand.
The vetty appt occupied most of our day, well my day. Mannie was a gentleman while there, did all they asked with a general aloofness. and - no prezzies on the floor! WOW on that - he alwyas leaves prezzies or at least pees on the vet techs. not yesterday.... ;-)
He did well until he decided it was time to go home, then I got the paws at the door, the meows and general protests. One happy kitter when we walked in the door. We did get some sunshine late in the day, so of course his internal sunshine enter went into overdrive and he found every last sunbeam in the house. well... there were only three, but he did use them all.
Appy was so so this morning, as it is every morning now. LB is normal, Ketones tests have been negative. Test was good this morning, as was the shoot.
Normalcy in MannieLand.
yes, it is normal. Mannie said so.
Have a great day everyone! I am off to Seattle later today to visit friends for coffee. WOO HOO! social day!
