I had set out a little over an ounce of Wellness last night at 11 when I went to bed. My daughter came home from a party at 2:30 and I saw Champ had already eaten it. I didn't put anymore out, thinking he would be fine! But I forgot what a piggie he is!! He stuck his head in my bedroom door this morning at 5:45, right when the alarm was getting ready to go off, and hollered at me. So much for hitting the snooze button. He completely gobbled down 2 oz. of Wellness this morning. After I gave him his shot (1 unit again...I'm sticking with this), I set out 1 oz of Wellness for him to snack on later. As I loaded the dishwasher, he ate that bit of food too!! Oh well, he's hungry. He went through about 13 oz. of Wellness in the previous 24 hours, but he hasn't gained weight so I'm thinking his high sugars yesterday just gave him an appetite. His AMPS is in the yellow this morning so I'm glad about that. What does everyone think about me getting some Wellness Core dry food to keep out for him since he is a grazer? It will be a bit cheaper for me and easier to always keep something out for him to snack on. However, if it will raise his sugars, he will have to do without. I seem to remember when I was researching foods for him that the Wellness Core dry is pretty high protein/low carb.

Also, does anyone know how I can change Champ's shot cycle so it's 7 AM and 7 PM? I have to get up at 5:30 (or earlier) on the weekdays, but, geez, on the weekends too?!! I can do 7 and 7 without complaining too much.

Have a great Saturday everyone!!! I'm going to start mine off with my Weight Watcher's weigh-in and meeting (I've already lost 21 pounds!)

Hi Patty. I'm not any kind of advisor about anything, :-D ,but Checkers bg soars, if he eats even a few kibbles of any kind of dry, even the no/low carb, like EVO.
Others will be along during the day and evening, to advise you.

Glad to see champ doing so well. This dose appears to be agreeing w/ him. :-D Just a few more days to settle that shed.

Generally it is best not to change sot times by more than 15 minutes. You can do it every cycle, but I prefer to do it just once a day. For me as much as Tess, I get too turned around changing the times every cycle. Especially all the iPod alarms I have set.

To continue nudging you into our format we add a link to yesterday's condo in our first post , so if there are questions we can go back and look to what has gone on before. Just copy the url from yesterday's condo, then when you start a new one, click on the URL button and paste the address between the sets of brackets. here is your condo from yesterday to get you started.

I agree, no dry food. Once you figure out how much canned he needs he'll get used to it. There is no reason to always have food available. for cost you can always supplement w/ less expensive canned food, or homemade. But that's another story.

Re: 4/9 Champ AMPS 294, +6 280, +9 264

Thanks for all the info, but I don't know what a "condo" is, except an apartment you can buy. hahaha. I'm not sure the steps I take to copy the URL and do all the other stuff, but I'll figure it out.

Well, Champ had a 264 at +9...still going down? I don't understand diabetes. Why can't it just be predictable and you just have to follow steps a, b, and c. Blah. So irritating. He's been acting like all he wants to do is sleep today and that always bothers me. I even have to call him a few times before he'll even open his eyes much less turn his head to look at me. Oh well. I'm not going to stress out it...I hope.

Okay, I think I figured it out. I was able to copy the URL and I'll do that from now on. How do I entitle the URL "yesterday" insteady of hand-typing it in?

Re: 4/9 Champ AMPS 294, +6 280, +9 264

A "condo" is what we call our daily thread. It's based on our visiting each other's kitty condo:
it_condo_bob_cat.jpg

To make the link to your previous condo look fancy, you need to copy the link. you then insert the URL code -- just click on the button above the text box that's labeled URL. That will insert into the text box. In the first URL brackt, you insert =the link to your previous condo. In between the two sets of brackets, you then type Yesterday or whatever you want to call the link. So it would look like:

As for the dry, I wouldn't go there. Instead, think about a timed feeder if you want to leave snacks out. Alternatively, if you add enough water to canned food then freeze it in an ice cube tray, you can make catsickles that you can leave out for Champ. Also, you don't want to feed withing at least 2 hours of shot time. You don't want our pre-shot numbers to be influenced by food.

Re: 4/9 Champ AMPS 294, +6 280, +9 264, PMPS 294

Okay...the votes have been tabulated. Champ will NEVER get dry food again unless I need to raise his BG. Unfortunately, sometimes I forget to check the clock before I give him some more food so some of his numbers may have been influenced by eating 1 to 1.5 hours before his BG check. I'll be more conscientious of this in the future.

Sienne (pretty name btw), thanks for the tutorial on the URL stuff. I'm really computer stupid unless it's a word processing program or facebook; then I'm a fiend!! hahaha.

Ann, I think I'll do the time change for his shots in 15 minute increments per day because I know I WILL get myself confused. That way he'll be changed over to 7 and 7 by next weekend. Yeah for an hour extra sleep!!

All Champ's BGs today have been pretty steady; no big ups and no big dips. Not sure if this is good? Again, he has slept most of the day which is concerning, but I guess I'll have to see what tomorrow brings. I plan on doing a curve tomorrow.

Re: 4/9 Champ AMPS 294, +6 280, +9 264, PMPS 294

Hi, Patty! Just dropping by to say hello, and you're doing great.

Um, you might already know this, and I apologize for not being up to date on your postings, but just in case: If you need to raise Champ's BGs for any reason, the kibble is NOT the way to go. Do you have some HC wet food, something with gravy?

The reason: the kibble raises BG, but only after a few hours. When BGs are low and we're trying to raise them, the gravy in the HC food works quickly.

Sorry if you already knew this, but it's better to hear this too many times than too few. (And Champ will l-o-v-e the gravy as much as the kibble!! )

Re: 4/9 Champ AMPS 294, +6 280, +9 264, PMPS 294

Hi Kathy!! I have no problem with hearing information many, many times. I actually still have cans left over of his old wet food, Friskies Tasty Treasures. Lots of gravy in those!!. I'm glad you mentioned it so I know to use it in emergencies.
